He is a great person and physician. Comes across shy but I got him to laugh a few times. I ask many questions and he is very honest and thorough. My situation was complicated but after my heart transplant, Dr Van Bakel was encouraging.

Dr. Van Bakel has been following my heart failure/LVAD condition for over a year. He is the Chuck Norris of the cardiac world. He kicks butt and saves lives while other doctors are golfing on the weekend. If you’re looking for a “hands on” “in the trenches “ doctor, I HIGHLY recommend him.

I have multiple issues including cardiomyopathy, pulmonary, and others. Dr. Van Bakel and his staff have not only persevered in difficult diagnoses, but helped me maintain the will to keep fighting.

He listens, takes his time and explains thoroughly. I feel very blessed that he is my physician. He truly wants me to have the best quality of life possible. He is kind and has called me himself, not a nurse, to follow up with me on a medication. You just do not get that anymore, especially from a well known cardiologist. I highly recommend him as a caring and very qualified physician.
