He misdiagnosed my wife's acute pancreatitis. Said she had heartburn and told her take pepcid. He was an idiot.
I just received (Feb 2021) a bill in the mail for an appointment from summer of 2017. I went to one appointment at Dr. Gupta's office and I have been billed THREE times for this ONE appointment. At the time of my appointment the office manager WROTE DOWN my debit card information but did not try to pull the payment until a month later... My husband then went to the office and physically wrote them a check for the FULL BALANCE due. They called several months after that to say that the bill hadn't been paid and they miraculously "found it" after I insisted that it has been paid. FOUR YEARS LATER they mailed a bill to for a "past due" balance. When I called the office manager refused to discuss my payment history, when I asked for the information to be emailed to me she said I could pick it up (I live 4 hours away) and when I said I couldn’t she said it would go to collections and hung up on me. They disconnected the office phones when I attempted to call back to address the billing issue
I just received (Feb 2021) a bill in the mail for an appointment from summer of 2017. I went to one appointment at Dr. Gupta's office and I have been billed THREE times for this ONE appointment. At the time of my appointment the office manager WROTE DOWN my debit card information but did not try to pull the payment until a month later... my debit card had been stolen at that point so the payment did not go through with the information they took the previous month. My husband then went to the office and physically wrote them a check for the FULL BALANCE due. They called several months after that to say that the bill hadn't been paid and they miraculously "found it" after I insisted that it has been paid. Now FOUR YEARS LATER they mailed a bill to my parents house for a "past due" balance. When I called the office manager refused to discuss my payment history, when I asked for the information to be emailed to me she said I could stop by the office and pick it up... this is four years later, I live on the other side of the state. When I told her that she stated she would just sent it to collections and proceeded to hang up on me. I called back immediately and was hung up on again. They have now disconnected the office phone so that they don't have to speak to me. I never write reviews, but I am disgusted by the immoral and unethical way this office is run. DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
Dr. Gupta saw my wife recently. She has been complaining of abdominal pains. He told her she had covid 19 and sent her home. My wife and I were both tested by Tidelands Health at Coastal Carolina University and it came back negative for both of us. She went and saw him again. She is still complaining of abdominal pains. He gives her a prescription for omeprazole and sends her away. On Thursday, August 27 my wife is now rolling around in pain on our bedroom floor. Horry County ambulance removed her to Conway Medical Center where she is diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. She had to be transported to MUSC because of the severity of her case. She is still there as I am writing this on September 13. Over two weeks at the hospital. First in Medical ICU in MUSC, and now in a regular room awaiting surgery. I believe if Dr. Gupta was any good at being a doctor, he would have at least sent her for a CT scan or an MRI. Instead he just blew her off. and sent her home. Its time for me to get another competent doctor.
Run far away! Complete incompetence!
My husband and I having been going to Dr.Gupta for over 10 years. He has a great bedside manner and always explains everything in detail.
I regret ever walking in this place. I was told to go here from a primary care provider and from the get go I knew something was up. The first question I was asked before I had even gotten seen by the doctor was "how are you paying for this?" I waited forever and then was taken back and the "nurses" if you can even call them that, we horrible and rude. The doctor didn't even let me get my symptoms out before he started talking over me and shutting me down. I went for stomach issues and he wouldn't even hear my opinion or my thoughts on why I was having problems and immediately began writing me 3 prescriptions for medicine that had nothing to do with what I was going to the doctor about. He then asked again how I would be paying for the visit. Seriously? He did absolutely nothing, didn't even listen to my problems, and asks me how I am paying? I payed the copay and left. Now every month I keep getting calls from the worst receptionist that I have ever had the displeasure to deal with telling me my insurance never payed and I owe them out of pocket. My insurance paid and I clearly have the proof but I still get harassed for money I don't even owe from an appointment that did absolutely nothing. If you have a health problem that you want to get better DO NOT go here. Even if you are completely desperate DO NOT go here. Go anywhere else.
Do not go here! They lied and said they spoke to my insurance company and I owed $810.00 that I had to pay that day. I only owed $127, and it has been over 2 months, and they will not issue my refund. My Insurance company and I have been calling over and over and they do not answer calls and always tell us to call back. This doctor only cares about money and he rips people off! Stay far away!
If you're wanting to be treated less than an animal than this is definitely the place for you. From the moment I was glimpsed by the provider I felt disregarded and hopeless. While attempting to explain my symptoms and the difficulty that I have had receiving care from the VA, he would be talking over me with more questions & became upset when I asked which should I answer first. He would walk in & out of the room while I'm answering, and once I express my dissatisfaction with his bedside behavior he informed me that that is how it is and questioned why don't I be seen at the VA. Since being a referral from my primary, when the appointment was established I asked Dr. Gupta what would be needed, but once I ot to the appointment I was told how I could not be helped bc I did not have records. I had no problem retriving those, but the disconnect was when I was told how this should have been on me basically. From there I asked would following visits be different based on the doctor's lack of empathy and it was then told to me by the receptionist that I can go elsewhere, which I am doing. However, before doing so I will be making it known how this individual treats "his" patients. I can't refer to him as a provider bc he's a repulsive excuse for one-- just another person seeking the recognition of the job instead of valuing what gifts he may have been given to help others
Saw this so called Dr for pain in abdomen. He never touched me and said I have a gallbladder problem go to the hospital. He also said “don’t tell them I sent you and don’t tell anyone you were here, now get out.” Best part he billed my insurance co. Talk about a crook. I won’t even let him look at my dog.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
