I had back surgery on May 06, 2021 and after a cautious and calculated delay in my retirement golf game, I can now report that my back is 95% healed. Played my first game this past weekend, and other than my short game, I hit all fairways and most greens in regulation. I am thrilled and grateful to Dr. Mathes, his medical staff (Piedmont Spine and Neurosurgical Group), the office staff, and the great medical team at St. Francis Downtown. I approach my 70th birthday with new vigor, and a much better Back since I was 50. Thank you again Dr Mathes for my new lease on life.
I have been dealing with pain in my arms and hands for roughly 10yrs. Started seeing Dr. Mathes back in May. The entire office is amazing! From the front desk to the doctors and assistants, everyone cares and it shows. Doctor Mathes felt that cervical fusion surgery was the best option for me. After fighting insurance and getting things lined up, surgery was performed on Oct 7th. I woke up in recovery and already noticed a HUGE difference in my hands. The man fixed me and has me feeling normal again. Just had my follow-up appointment and had my staples removed and I'm well on my way to recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Mathes, he listens and will come up with the best plan for improving your life and pain.
I am a patient of Dr Mathes. I am 3 weeks post of from a spinal fusion. I honestly could not have been more Blessed to have him as my doctor. He talked with me and my husband before the surgery was even scheduled, and due to COVID it has to be rescheduled, but afterwards in the hospital he listened to me when he made rounds and was there if I needed anything. Upon my release from the hospital I had to call his office for some unusual pain and his nurse was just as kind, explaining to me what was going on When I went for my 2 week post op visit I saw his nurse, she removed the staples and was very easy removing them. I go back in a few weeks to get my post op x rays , I recommend Dr Mathes 100% and I’m thankful for him and his entire staff Everyone there has been kind and considerate
I am so grateful to Dr. Adam Mathes. I had a posterior cervical laminectomy and can’t believe the improvement I experienced after surgery. He was great at explaining the procedure and what to expect after surgery.
I've had surgery and have been seeing him for almost 2 years with no issues and always friendly. He really seems to care about my recovery.
This doctor was amazing! He got me in very fast! He made it clear I need surgury asap. So even though covid-19 had slowed things like this down it didnt effect me. He got me on the books 5 days after first visit. I have had my surgery and feel better already. Anyone with a spine cord injury or issue I highly recomend Dr mathes!
My husband was seen in the ER at St.Fransis Eastside on a Sunday via ambulance in which he collapsed on the floor due to back injury. The attending physician recommended Dr.Mathes for follow up ASAP. I called Mon & Tuesday stressing the importance of my husband being seen ASAP. I received a call from a medical assistant on Tuesday which left a message stating we need to schedule an appointment. Wed. I call an express the Dyer need to schedule any appt at the earliest convenience (via voicemail) We will make it work no matter what....HE NEEDS TO BE SEEN! Almost a week has passed and haven't heard a word from Dr. Mathes office since my last voicemail. However, we have had contact with the Spine institute out of Greenwood which was able to fit him in ASAP considering his disability. My advice to any patient who seeks attention to their medical needs ASAP. Seek another facility who actually cares about patient needs!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
