List of South Carolina Hospital Association's Reviews
a family member of mine had surgery here. the pre-op nurse was amazing. however all of the other nurses were horrible. we heard a women screaming and crying. no one answered her for hours until we said something to a different nurse. my family member kept calling for help from nurses as well and no one ever came. incompetent nurses.
Great bedside manner from all of the staff and Nurses. Took the time to talk to me. They were very compassionate with what I was going through.they did there best making me comfortable. I appreciate coastal Carolina hospital
The service has plummeted here. It is worth the extra drive to Savannah St. Joseph Candler. If you have COVID, go elsewhere. My family and I will never use this place again.
I was very impressed by the efficiency, bedside manner, and way with which their various departments worked with everyone from my doctor's office, insurance company, and myself to provide a seamless MRI experience for me in their VERY CLEAN, well-appointed facilities. I have already recommended them to friends and family for any necessary testing by their imaging department. I can't attest to their medical facilities, but if they're anything like the folks I had the pleasure to be treated by, they're wonderful, too! Thank you for making me comfortable and for talking me through the process.
When I brought my family member in for day surgery, there were overgrown bushes and tall grasses covering the main entrance monument to the hospital, obscuring signage to the ER and Surgery drop off locations. We drove around the building twice trying to figure out where to go until we finally saw an employee in the parking lot and asked for directions. What if it had been a life threatening emergency?Once in the waiting room, I went to wash my hands and there was no soap in the restroom dispenser. I had to ask two different employees before someone finally refilled the empty soap dispenser. And this is in the midst of a Covid 19 pandemic!I stayed with my relative during her prep, and one nurse, Myra, was exceptionally kind and professional, but other staff seemed indifferent and made no effort to make the patient feel at ease. When I returned to pick my relative up post surgery, the new shift door receptionist had no idea where I was suppose to go. And in the main Lobby, there was no one manning the check-in stations and the room was empty. After waiting about 10 minutes, I wandered down the hospital hall until I encountered a nurse who directed me to a small waiting room.Once released, my relative told me that one of the medical staff attending her had a constant, gurgling cough and that she felt alone and unattended in recovery. And she had to ask the nurse who brought her out to the car to please slow the wheelchair down as she was feeling unstable. Although the doctor was reputable and the procedure went well, based on this one experience, I would not choose to have myself or my family treated in this facility again.
After a while I was furious I got up and got dressed and told them I was leaving the doctor trying to say she was monitoring if I was having contractions which was a lie because my nurse took it off before she left the room saying I'm only 23 weeks so I didn't need it and she didn't communicate that to me if that was true.I LITERALLY hate this hospital I will not be returning to have my baby or in the future I felt very mistreated. I had too many bad experiences with this hospital and this the first time I'm saying something. This hospital needs to be shut down!
Staff was great. Care was great. BILLING. They do seperate bills for doctor and stay. Youll get the doctor one MONTHS after you go and forget you even went. Be way more convenient for us, and probably them too, if everything was done at once. That probably makes too much sense and is too easy though. Now the question is, do i pay my rent and continue having a place to stay or pay this 3 MONTH LATE BILL?
I'm writing this to let you know I had an excellent experience. The administration staff, nurses and doctor were top notch. They were friendly, professional and polite (even when the nurses had a hard time hitting my vains and missing...not their fault just have hard vains to hit).
I was here yesterday for issues dealing with a skin infection and when it came time to get my prescription for my pain meds filled i was denied because the genius doctor never signed off my prescription paper!!! So i had to drive all the way back to hospital to get signed off on something that should’ve been taken cared of in the first place!!! If you will make a mistake when it comes to signing off a prescription document why the hell would i let you operate on me?? I wouldn’t even recommend this hospital to my biggest enemy!!!
Initially a week before the visit, I was seen at an Urgent Care facility whom diagnosed me with an upper right abdominal infection with internal bleed which were indicated in my blood results referred from the doctor; very low hemoglobin count and raised liver enzymes. Still not feeling well, vomiting, consistent nausea, diarrhea, and fever, I went to the Emergency Room as directed from the doctor. At my visit to the Coastal Carolina Emergency Room, they preformed a blood test and urine test resulting in the misdiagnosis of my disease. They told me that my hemoglobin was back up to 11 from the 9 that I was. They told me, also, that I had an Urinary Tract Infection and was given antibiotics. I was then discharged.Still not feeling well, I set up an appointment with my primary care doctor the next day and was seen the same day due to the urgency. I was given a blood test, urine test, and a sonogram. The test indicated that my blood had NOT gone up and that I did NOT have a Urinary Tract Infection. My doctor called me with urgency that I needed surgery right away due to a collapsing and infected gallbladder and exceeding symptoms. I was set for surgery and at my pre-operation was given a blood test resulting in still lowering hemoglobin. I had, then, my diseased gallbladder removed. At Coastal Carolina Emergency Room, I was given untrue information and misdiagnosis. I asked for copies of my blood results and we’re not given. I was improperly cared for and worsened my symptoms and overall health. My symptoms started on Friday August 6th. I was seen at the urgent care that day and was given blood test to start to shed light on my disease. I was given medication for my symptoms meanwhile the test results were coming in. When I was feeling extremely sick again, I went to the Emergency Room as directed from the doctor. They did not investigate my prolonged pain and symptoms leading up to the visitation and nonetheless excused them. One of the nurses even told me that most likely I had Hepatitis A and that the urgent care doctor I was seen by was said to exaggerate and extremeify things, which in actuality the urgent care doctor was nearly correct.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
