List of Tidelands Health's Reviews
Worst place to go for pain management. The staff is unorganized. The dr.stay out the office more than working and when I went for injections my leg went numb on the table .The nurse sprayed numbing solution at the same time the Dr. injected the needle. I stated I felt that something was not right. The dr. said that mean Im in the right place. My leg has more numbness than when I first went there.
This place sucks. Waited an hour and saw the doctor for 3 minutes. Screw this place don’t come.
When we moved here 6+ years ago this hospital in Murrells Inlet sc was the best. They were very patient, the ER was above any ER I've ever been to, DE, NC, GA, NY. But the last 1+ years has been terrible. Incompetence, lack of caring for the patient. It's hard to explain. It just seems like they're only there to get a paycheck
The entire staff is always very professional and caring. Dr Willoughby is amazing and explains everything so that you can understand it.
After talking with my primary care doctor, she suggested I go to pain management. After seeing the options I had, I decided on this place. I then get a call from this office explaining they are minus one doctor and my wait would be over a month and I should go to the other location to be seen. I was adamant that my doctor and I chose this location for a reason. She then proceeded to strongly urge me (I would say argue with me) that I could get the same at this location. Then my phone must've dropped or she hung up on me. I get great service of PT/OT at the other location but will never go to this one because of the office manager's very unfriendly attitude with me.I am not shopping around for opioids but she sure made it sound like I was! Sorry, Tidelands. You have lost my pain management business!!!!
Thus place is nothing but a assembly line. Dr. Willoughby seemed like a good Dr but after going for a while (2 yrs) and having had a MRI because of continuing back pain, he never told me I had spurs on my spine and never referred me to a spine Dr to possibly fix some of my neck problems. Didn't know all of it until I did. And Catherine Gallier came in during one of my office visits and told me I failed a drug test. You would be stupid to do that when you know they will drug test you plus I don't do drugs. My regular Dr asked me if she sent a list of my meds which could have caused a bad test and I didn't know. Tried to call them but they screen calls and never called me back.
They switch your appointments on u when they r hurrying up to leave hours before closing. My appointment was at 330 and switched to 3 without notifying me and waited till I drove over 30min out the way to get there and tell me he was leaving to go on vacation because that was more important....REALLY FINISH YUR APPOINTMENTS 1ST!!!! they need to get new appointment people that do there job correctly!!!!!!
This man walks in the room and says hello then 2nd said I don't give opioid bc he doesn't want to lose his license and for mortal and religion reasons. He ask me questions and I give him answers but not fast enough. Then ask who ordered my xrays so I started to tell him and I couldn't think of 1 the Dr name and got nasty about the different Dr. I couldn't remember. Then started talking about who I have seen in the pass and what they did for me then got loud and said you lied to me and said I was in contract with his good friend Dr. Tompkins up in lil river which was a joke to. That so 4 months ago. I am not in contract with.No one. He continued to yell at me and I had enough I walk out this Dr. Belittle me so bad and embarrassed me. I bet the whole stuff could hear him out the door. This place doesn't even deserve a star.
While I try not to discount other’s experiences, I can only rely on my experiences and I find it hard to believe that Dr. Willoughby could ever be the man some are trying to portray him as being. Dr. Willoughby has been kind, professional, understanding, and most importantly, very helpful from the first day I saw him 2 years ago. I have FBS with an ALIF fusion at L5S1. He has preformed radio frequency ablation on me 4 times now, as well as being the prescriber for my pain and nerve medications. Yes, you have to take drug tests most every time you are there. So, don’t do drugs kids. They check for illegal substances, medications that THEY did not prescribe, and they check to make sure you are actually taking your meds (i.e. Not selling them instead). I have taken many a drug test there, and never had a bit of problem. Being in pain is aggravating, exhausting, and depressing. But don’t take it out on a man that tries to help you. On the doctor’s side, it can be frustrating not being able to relieve your pain. Can you imagine how many people he sees daily that are just trying to get drugs? There is a certain amount of vetting that you must go through, as aggravating and demoralizing as it may be. It’s just a product of this day and age, brought on by the amount of drug use and abuse in our nation. Be honest and cooperative with Dr. Willoughby and I am 100% sure you will receive great care. Dr. Willoughby is very easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and certainly willing to offer his opinion with how to proceed with your treatment. Be willing to try his ideas. After all, that’s why you are there, to get treatment from someone that has put in the time and effort to get a degree in the medical field. If the average man knew what we were doing, we wouldn’t need doctors. Obviously, we do not know what we are doing. And Dr. Willoughby does. I give 5 stars not only to Dr. Willoughby, but also the nurses that are so nice (and actually know how to start and IV 😂) and the front desk staff that has always greeted me with a smile and answered any questions I may have had. A superb facility all around.Mike Howard
I found all the staff members to be professional and courteous. NextStep tests your urine for drugs of abuse and requires you to sign a pain management contract that states that you will only use them for pain management aka no doctor shopping for pain medications. I find these practices to be best practices in the battle over our nation's drug crisis. The providers developed a treatment plan that met my needs for day to day pain and acute episodes of back pain. An added plus, is the imaging center which is located in the same building.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
