List of Newberry County Memorial Hospital's Reviews
This place is a joke. My daughter went in very sick and extremely dehydrated. The doctor asks her to pee but she cant. Shes dehydrated He took it as her not being able to pee cause of an infection. She told him so many times how dehydrated she was and thats why she cant pee. I kid you not this doctor says she has a UTI. What? How could he tell she never could pee. He guessed He needs to be stripped of his license
This rating is based on my personal experience and does not reflect on the professional Doctors and Nurses whom are very professional and knowledgeable. This review is strictly to express my discuss with the staff that chose not to make the sacrifice to get advanced degrees yet feel entitled to the same pay as the Nurses. They sit at the station on the 3rd floor and talk very loud about the patients and RNs. They are rude and vulgar. I was shocked to hear the things they were saying. It makes me so angry to hear these entitled staff members bemoaning their lot in life. Get back in school and earn your degree if you are so smart. You chose not to put education in a position of priority so deal with the consequences. The one thing that is always true is every decision has conquences and your poor choice is on you and no one else.
On Wednesday July 282021I brought my husband to the ER for dehydration I just have to share what a good experience we had in the ER. I Give God the Glory for the staff that cared for my husband. My husband was very difficult to deal with because he didn’t want to stay overnight. Shout out to Dr. Sean Omeara MD for his patience kindness and concern for my husband. May God bless you. And the nurses were so nice to us. Thank you again for your kindness and concern. We are forever grateful.
My 88 year old father here. Been here since 730. Kept my sister and I in waiting room after we were told they would let one go back and no switching out. Now 953 my sister goes to window to ask to go back again. No one has told us anything. No communication at all. She goes back and they say there is no working xrayCT machines in the whole hospital and will have to be transferred to another hospital tomorrow. In a lot of pain had a fall maybe broken ribs or something brought here cause this is where his doctor practices. Now we will have to go Lexington tomorrow and then back here after Xrays ??? To top it all off my father asked for a drink of water and the nurse said “No not until after his Ct scan”. She asked for a mouth swab and she said “We don’t have any”. He has one kidney and hasn’t had anything to drink since we left the house at 700. It’s almost 1000. Now he has to wait 45 more minutes to be transported to Lexington another 45 minute ride in the ambulance. They were rude and treated my father and us badly. Side note only drink machine outside of ER is sold out of every drink.
I want to tell my personal experience. I was in a very bad life threatening wreck at night when I called the EMS to come get me. I had a broken wrist and two broke ankles. I am not trying to bash anyone but tell my story. I was a passenger in the wreck and someone else was driving. I have no traffic violations or wrecks on my record. I want to clarify beforehand that I I have a severe anxiety disorder and other mental health issues. I take Lexapro and I went to the Carolina behavioral center. It runs in my family. I But I’m going to college to be a mental health professional. I have come by leaps and bounds. I do not do drugs and was not on any. They came to get me and were rude to me and I was worried I was going to literally die due to internal bleeding. I was freaked out. Any neurotypical person would be freaked out as well. I suffer from severe anxiety anyway. They assumed I was on hard drugs and so did the police officer. Both treated me badly and did not understand I was suffering from a mental health condition. They needed to be educated on this topic. He said “I’ve been doing this a long time what did you take.” I had to get my parents to explain to them that I have severe anxiety and I did not take any drugs nor was I the one driving. The person driving did not either. It was rude of them to assume especially since I was being nice. Then when I got to the hospital the X ray guy saw my wrist dangling from the bone and said he couldn’t X ray it only what the doctor told him to like a robot. He seemed very sociopathic and he lacked interpersonal skills severely like most of them there do. He seemed he was only in it for the money If even that he seemed like the professional team had went out on the street choose the most redneck they could find and slapped a hospital uniform on him. It’s time people educate themselves on mental health conditions and learn interpersonal skills as well. It doesn’t matter how many years of college you went to if you can’t treat others with basic respect you should not be employed. No matter someone’s socioeconomic class you should always treat everyone like a human being not a number. It’s a small town like Union it really shouldn’t even have a hospital but for what it’s got it lacks significantly. It’s so sad. There is like one good doctor and nurse I’ve heard but the rest need to change. They also told me when I thought I was going to die everyone dies all unsympathetically. That made me freak out more thinking I was going to. I wasn’t ready to die I was 21 years old they said it like it doesn’t even matter. That was awful I looked like I had got beat up from the wreck and had almost died. Thankfully I am alive today to tell the story. My mom had suggested I let her take me because ambulance rides can be up to $800. I don’t recommend this place. I hope people will educate themselves and gain interpersonal skills and realize the severity of mental health. This was a complete accident I know people make illegitimate calls to EMS but this was an emergency. A life threatening one at that. I treated everyone nicely which is why I don’t understand why they treated me so horrible and make jokes at my life expense. I get long hours and it’s a tough job but I only wanted to be treated with kindness and respect and understanding. This goes out to the police officer as well. Please don’t ever insult a person going through mental health issues like that or had they almost died. Imagine had I was going to die my last thoughts words would have been all this. What an awful way to go Don’t go here unless you absolutely have to. I’ll never be coming back and I hope the patients senior citizens young teens and adults get the respect and kindness they need
Excellent care in a friendly environment

Absolute worst hospital experience ever. Nobody picks up the phone and when they do they do not do what you have asked them to do multiple times. Called billing probably 25 times now and they have picked up twice and never did what I told them. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE JOKE OF A HOSPITAL

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
