Center For Primary Care's Online Review Report Card

I have ask Dr. Embry three time to send my blood test results to Dr. Whitlock a Cardiologistfor his records. They have not been sent when I last visited him. Tried to call in and get a long wait time. Should I let Dr. Whitlock do my blood test? How do I get a copy of the test for myself since the automated test line does not work for me? Getting disturbed.

PLEASE READI was dismissed from the practice about ASKING A QUESTION ABOUT A VITAMIN CERTIFIED LETTER AND ALLBefore making a decision The only reason why I am posting a review is to express my experience. This is only based on MY EXPERIENCE. I have been a patient of DrEm for close to 3 years filled out my paperwork did my exams paid my copays. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago I work in the medical field and was in close contact with a positive case of COVID19. I could only get a rapid test at another practice. I was advised by that physician to start d3 zinc and c upon researching I found that echinacea and turmeric have had positive results not saying it cures anything...but it being herbal I was intrigued. I started my husband and I on the regiment. After a few days I thought it best to contact my physician and his to make sure considering the bottle states to CONTACT YOUR PHYSICIAN. Welll my husbands doctor personally called and stated it was fine and to look for signs that it has an affect on him DrEmbrys “receptionist” which also has worked as a “assistant” that stated multiple times in previous appointments she is ran like a “mule” and it “pays the bills” she called me and said there have been no clinical trials we can’t give advice. I asked if it would harm me with my asthma stated again no advice. I was appalled as a medical doctor asking a simple question about a NATURAL VITAMIN. Then guess what a CERTIFIED LETTER CAME TODAY STATING I AM BEING REMOVED AND HAVE 30 DAYS Do not go here go somewhere they value you. You are much better and deserve more than a run down commercialized clinic. CFPC do better.

Went here for an appt today arrived 15 mins early and waited an hour before walking out. So unfortunate that you can wait for an hour and only be examined for 1520mins or less if youre lucky enough to be seen. These providers do not care about their patients because if they did they would value our time as they do their own. They are in the business of making money and could care less about your health. Dont waste your time here as I did for over a year thinking it would get better because it wont. An elderly patient stated today I thought yall forgot about me and another of Dr. Embrys patient said she was only there for labs and had waited nearly an hour. I will not go to someone who clearly doesnt value my time and essentially my health. There are providers who care.

Appointment with Dr Hewitt..I was looking for a new family physician as mine is in upstate SC...After going through a very long process calling one day coming in next day to give my information to them leaving then they called me gave me an appointment...I saw  Dr Hewitt told him  of my medical history surgeries etc   reason why I take the meds I do take am prescribed I had already given that information in writing on the process to see him...I needed my anxiety depression meds as my doctor at this time is unavailable..I had a doc to prescribe my pain medicine could not give prescription for others.. filled it the day before my appointment with Dr Hewitt..I did not tell this doctor that but he never gave me a chance to do so..I simply told him the meds I was taking...He left they took blood urine specimen..Then the office manager came in dismissed me..She said I just got my pain meds filled...I knew that was not looking for another prescription for that medicine..Anyway long story short I was then dismissed  without the doctor even having the courtesy to talk to me about it...I would have told him had he inquired...But no just basically kicked me out made me feel like a criminal or something...So no I would not advise anyone to go to Center for Primary on Hugh St in NoAugusta...

Do you like waiting 45 minutes past your appointment time to even be seen by a nurse? Do you like waiting 90 minutes past your appointment time to even be seen by your physician? Do you desire to be seen by a health care office who cant bother to renew your daily Rxs without you personally spending time on your day off to talk to their answering machine? Then BOY is this the office for youAll jokes aside I actually love my physician and wont associate her name with the abysmal service I have received at this office but I genuinely feel like every time I go visit it gets worse. As I type this it is 425p on a Tuesday and my appointment was for 3p. I havent seen my Dr at all this entire time. WHY did I bother to make an appointment then? IN WHAT OTHER INDUSTRY would it be acceptable for a patient or client to wait for NINETY MINUTES PAST THEIR APPOINTMENT and its just treated as par for the course? I like my Dr but after today I will be switching bc this is absolutely absurd.

After reading the reviews for the Center for Primary Care I was skeptical at best. But having attempted and failed to get an appointment at essentially every other doctors office in North Augusta I gave CPC a call. Let me tell you this is easily the best doctors office that Ive ever dealt with. I literally got an appointment for the very day that I called. The office personnel were caring and willing to put in the extra effort. Dr. Hewitt spent time getting to know me and my needs. On top of his first rate bedside manner that man is knowledgeable beyond the common doctor. My scrip was filled that very day. Since then my scrip was on backorder through multiple local pharmacies. After advising CPC of this fact and without me asking them to CPC searched other pharmacies and found one with the meds on hand. I cannot recommend a doctors office more than CPC or a doctor more than Dr. Hewitt. I generally dont make a habit of seeing docs regularly but based upon the level of care received at CPC this could change.

Changing a doctor is very difficult especially if you have had great services in MUSC. I was very dissapointed and in fact I wont come back to this place. My doctor was Doctor Embry. I was expecting a doctor who cares about my problems. The whole 15 min visit and $725 went as the following. She came with a computer lab placed it on the small desk and started filling out my answered questions. Every time I started to tell her about my health problems she cutted me off. She seems to be in a hurry with no time to listening about my health problems. Later the doctor came back gave me a shot and I left. After that  I went for the follow up visit. The greeting was a not to happy person with a bill of the unpaid portion. I could not believe my eyes. For a simple shot Dr. Embry charged me $250 on top of the $50 for the shot itself. The other portion of the bill was for the 15 min visit.I complained and asked for the account manager. I told her all about the first visit and how abusive the charges were. She told me that the doctors are the ones that give them the codes for charging the insurance. Finally after that I canceled the follow up visit and wont ever come back again

The visit with the physician was ok however talking with the staff and their billing department has been awful. Below were the issues that I ran into.The office requires your  medical history and paperwork before they will consider you or even make an appointment. After talking to the office they said that they take most people just not a rare few with certain conditions that they cannot support. The original appointment time differed from the time the office sends a text reminder. They do this so people can get there early to fill out paperwork however we had already done this because they would not make an appointment otherwise. I sat in the waiting room for an extra half an hour after I checked in. This was time lost I could have been working. I had to push that I knew my insurance. They requested the $55 twice as I told them my insurance has a standard copay. Ultimately they said that I probably knew my insurance best and they would bill me any remaining amount. I saw Dr. Embry and she was caring and listened for a physical and another issue. However as I got my bill it seemed that I was billed twice for a physical and an office visit. My insurance would cover only one per day so this is obviously an issue for me. I have never had a physical that you couldnt ask any questions without being billed. I talked to their billing department as soon as I received the statement and they said that they would check with the office and get back to me. A week later and no call so I call back. Talk to another person and they said that they had already talked to me about the issue. I honestly gave up and just paid the difference as Im losing time with work calling and going to the office. If this is how my initial visit went I would rather go to urgent care for an issue before coming back to stress over the insurance billing and my time again. At least I know it would be cheaper at an urgent care.I was just looking for a new primary care center after moving here however this is not the place to be. Best wishes to anyone that goes here.

I have been going to CPC for about 10 years and Dr. Tracy Barefield is the best Dr. I have ever had.The staff is so nice and helpful and the pharmacy and Jessica is the best I have ever used.Deborah Evans

I had a very good experience here. Yesterday was my first visit at this practice and the first time seeing a primary care doctor. I am 19 and up until this point I had only seen my Pediatrician and my OBGYN. I saw Dr. Embry because my grandmother told me that she saw her and that she really like her. So I took her recommendation and made an appointment for an annual checkup. When I arrived the women at the front desk were nice they took my insurance and my $55 charge for not having met our deductible which was fine and expected. They got me checked in and from then I waited. I was only sitting for about 5 minutes before Dr. Embrys nurse came for me. She weighed me and took my height and blood pressure. She was VERY sweet. Then she told me the dr would be in soon. And she was I was only in the room alone for about 3 minutes before Dr. Embry walked in. I felt very comfortable from the beginning and she was very welcoming. We went through history my personal and family and she did a full work up. She didnt seem in a rush like many doctors do and I could tell she genuinely cared and took her time reviewing me. I was very thankful for this since many heath issues run in my family. Everything thankfully checked out and I was sent on my way after being talked to and seen for about 25 minutes by Dr. Embry. While I cannon vouch for the entire office and all of its doctors everyone who helped me was very nice and the staff involved with Dr. Embry was more than helpful as was she. I will be back next year for my next annual check up
