Dr. Dow was one of the best doctors we have dealt with. He was personable, knowledgeable and made sure we understood every detail. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

The BEST pediatric surgeon around

Both Dr. Dow and particularly his assistant were rude to my wife in dealing with our 6 month old daughter. We were referred to this specialist by our pediatrician in Beaufort, SC for one of our twins who was being tested for a slight hip displacement. Dr. Dow explained to my wife that our daughter had to get a score of at least 65 to not have to wear a hip brace and scheduled a follow up for his staff to do the ultrasound because he did not trust the technicians here in Beaufort and her most recent results were over 2 months old. She was at 55 on the test from two months prior. Dr. Dow indicated that her hip made no popping sound and there was a chance that she may not need a brace at all. The doctors office made the next appointment and we tried to reschedule three days later. My wife called up front and rescheduled with no issues. We then got a call about 10 minutes later from Dr. Dow's assistant that said that "for you we can not reschedule". My wife asked why and the assistant said our daughter was a surgical candidate and had to be seen immediately or they would need to operate. My wife asked why Dr. Dow had not mentioned this 3 days prior and the assistant then began repeating the same thing in a slower tone... basically acting like my wife did not understand simple English (I am an attorney my wife is a VP of Renewals for a healthcare company - not to mention Americans). The assistant then refused to change our appointment. Our daughter sleeps through the night, shows no signs of pain, and is able to move the leg in question fully. I am glad to pay a specialist to assist my daughter with any issues she might have, but I refuse to pay someone thousands to not give us complete information and then have his staff talk down to my family.
