List of Sweetgrass Pediatrics's Reviews
Sweetgrass is fine for well visits that you schedule months ahead of schedule. They have ZERO interest in treating sick kids, though. After years of sticking with them (because they were much better ten years ago and our kids records were there, etc.), I've given up. After 4 straight attempts to get them to see one of my kids when they were sick, only to be sent to urgent care (so we could wait in a waiting room with a bunch of COVID patients), we are done. This place is terrible. Good luck speaking to a human. They literally DO NOT answer their phones. If you just walk in, the desk staff act like bouncers at the most exclusive club in the world. I should have left two years ago when I brought in my son who was miserable and covered in a bright red rash. Despite their near empty waiting room, they would not see him. Apparently, they are way too busy to see your kid without a month's notice. So, I am sure they won't miss the insurance reimbursement from our well-check visits.

I scheduled a virtual appointment for my child and received an email confirming the time, and date. I called that morning because I did not get a link for the virtual visit. They said that they would send it to me 5 minutes before. I left work early so that I could complete the virtual visit with my child. I called to me told that it was in person even through the email said virtual, then told the provider did not do virtual. We would of had no problem coming in person if we would have been notified. After going back and forth with the receptionist, my child could not be seen. This is upsetting as a parent.
If i could i would give a 0. My son was very sick the doctor came in the room looked at him and said there going to test for strep throat and then came back and stated that the results are not back yet but its leaning more toward strep throat so they called the prescription in and sent us on are way. FYI my son is only 1 and no one else in the house is sick and he doesnt go to day care. My son continued to get worse at home the antibiotics weren't helping I had to take him to the ER three days later in the middle of the night. They tested him he didn't have strep throat and they stated it's very rare at his age he would since no one else is sick at home. My son had a virus that antibiotics couldnt help and needed fluids the antibiotics just made very thing worse. And the worse part is I never got a call letting me know what the results were. Doctors are not paid to guess and it seems like the doctors here are just not passionate about the patients.
I could never understood why they had low ratings until today. Today my baby was so supposed to get her vaccines. When I got there I did the pre registration, and aside from that I had to do the check in. Unfortunately there was a mix up with the insurance (now resolved), but they wouldn't see my baby without a $120 payment, and my baby is cover under my insurance. Instead of them or allowing me to call the insurance company to get everything taken care of they told me they couldn't see us because we would be considered late trying to sort this out. Immediately after this I found another provider, and told them what happened and they said that was ridiculous especially with my baby coming there since she was a newborn. Luckily the new provider set me up with apt right away. Sweetgrass is unprofessional. I will never do business with them EVER!!!!!
As an RN of over 25 years, I am APPALLED that my granddaughter- 9-mo, arrived for her well-baby visit this morning not feeling well and needing the attention of a physician to be told that they "don't see sick children/babies during well-baby visits". To be turned away, AFTER being placed in an exam room, and told to come back at 7:30PM (this was 0845 AM) when they live over an hour away.... Or do a virtual visit - where a doc can't examine her tympanic membranes or listen to her rattling chest over a phone.... Seriously???? When does the health of the child get prioritized over your "procedure/protocols"? I've known Dr. Rodgers since my children were babies and when Dr. Hill was still alive seeing pts alongside of each other.... When did the child's welfare not take precedent????? We WILL be looking for an office who puts the child first!!!! Absolutely ridiculous! Not to mention, she was seen and treated for BOTM a few weeks ago... how can you be sure she's better from that??? A 5-min physical exam for a first-time momma there alone with her child to be seen - thinking she already has an appt, why call and reschedule to a "sick appt"!!!! What had our medical community come to???? I'm disgusted that this office has trumped the physician... I really pray hard that Benjie didn't know she was there and sick and chose not to see her!!!!
Just went here yesterday at 4:00 pm to receive a strep throat test for my granddaughter. It took almost 45 minutes for them to come swab her throat and we were the only car waiting for 35 minutes. The technician was very sweet and professional! We had to call to get the results which came out positive. By this time they have already closed. My daughter specifically told them which pharmacy to use, as it is close to her home near the Air Force Base. Went there, just for them to tell that they never received the prescription, they said maybe we'll get it shortly. So we left went home and then went back to CVS for them to tell us they never received a prescription. Got a hold of someone this morning, they said that the prescription went to the downtown Summerville location. I say all this as communication is the result of a child suffering. All this took was a text to clear up. But unfortunately, a child suffers one more day then they need to.
I wish I could find a place to rate Emily Calaman, CPNP individually. I love the majority of the staff we have seen at Sweetgrass over the years, but Emily Calaman is AMAZING!!! She invested in my daughter's medical issues and has been the only provider willing to help me coordinate all of her care and get me referrals to the specialists we need to see. I never feel rushed. I feel like she genuinely listens to my concerns as well as my daughter's. She is very thorough and willing to help me think out of the box. She has been an ABSOLUTE lifesaver for my daughter. We still have a long journey ahead, but thanks to her we are finally getting diagnoses and treatments that are working.
I scheduled an appt 1 month prior...when I arrived i texted them to left them knowni arrived, per their aigna in the parking lot. I then got anrezr back aakinf me to fill out a ton of registratiin questions, via text, 5 mjn before my appt. The last part was to provide my credit card number. I left that blank as mu grandson is on medicaid. I sat out there forever, texting ro please let us in the lobby. I then received a call the i had not completed the registration. Then they questioned me about his runny nose...and informed me that they couldnt see him if he was sick...I"d have to make another appt with another office.... really??? What purpose do they serve??? I will never be back. There office staff need a lesson in parient etiquette. I went to MUSC childrens...they are wonderful.
I called to schedule an appointment and spoke with Trisha. She was very helpful so full of a smile as I could tell as she spoke with me. She went out of her way to help us find an appointment. Do not get many helpful people but she was great.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
