I would definitely recommend Dr Turk to others. He makes you feel at home and like he is a friend you just have not seen for awhile. He is understanding and compassionate to the patients condition. He is clear and uses vocabulary that a layman could understand allowing for a better outcome when making important decisions.

I had an MRI and my doctor (very experienced) diagnosed MS. I have relatives who have MS and my symptoms are the same. This guy has a condescending attitude which really turned me off. He insisted I have had a stroke!!! My husband had a very mild stroke and I have NEVER had any of the same symptoms or results. I plan to see a better Dr. This guy insisted I must have heart problems; I've seen a heart specialist and have an excellent heart. I'm surprised, most Sentara Drs are great.

Dr Turk was very agreeable to continuing with previous neurologist's treatments although he admitted to not being at all familiar with the protocol that I am on. Odd that a neurologist wouldn't know of treatment options for neurological disorders. Left feeling very uncomfortable in his knowledge base.

He told me I needed mri to view ms progression then when I told him I didn't have insurance he told me I could have psychiatric problems causing my symptoms. I wouldn't send anyone to see him. He was nice until he found out I didn't have insurance.

It was very easy and quick to schedule an appointment after recent ER visit. When i was there i found out my medical insurance was expired. He still saw me and did not bill me. He also got me in touch with a social worker from the hospital to help me with my insurance.

I am so thankful to Dr Turk, he saw my son in ER for the first time, discussed all the treatment options and diagnostic tests. And after 2 months of treatment my son has being seizure free.

He would not listen to me or seem to care. After I gave him my symptoms he said "if I can sum this up in one word...it would be I don't know what is wrong with you" I said isn't that 8 words? I got a dirty look. Said I was depressed?!?! Got second opinion and have degenerative disc disease in my neck. He wouldn't even examine me!!!!
