List of Lexington Women's Care West Columbia's Reviews
I requested routine blood work and was met with unnecessary resistance and repeated back-and-forth instead of straightforward care. There was no clear explanation for why these standard labs could not be ordered. As a woman trying to conceive, I expected at least a basic level of understanding and support. Instead, I experienced a complete lack of empathy and responsiveness. What should have been a simple request turned into an exhausting and frustrating process. I will be seeking care elsewhere and would not recommend this office to anyone, especially women looking for compassionate, supportive care.
My overall care from them was ok I got better care from the nurses than the dr. I had one dr come in and told me my blood pressure was a little high and that I needed to take an aspirin which if he looked at my chart Im allergic to aspirin. My biggest problem was them trying to charge me 800 before I gave birth saying my insurance only paying for 85% which was completely wrong my insurance covered 100% of my care and my insurance even said nobody had reached out to them about any pre delivery bill and told me to ignore them which I did and my insurance paid 100% of my delivery care. My second problem was being billed 250 for iud which didn’t sound right to me so I called my insurance again and they said that I’m 100% covered because it preventative care so I go to my appointment and the lady from the financial department tells me I need to paid 250 or I can’t get the procedure done I told her what my insurance company said and she said the insurance company would have to call her so I had my insurance call her while I was on the line and that lady never picked up. My insurance called for 2 weeks and she never replied back so my insurance looked at the code she put in and realized she put in a code for mri not iud smh. This place will try to rob you of your money and don’t care at all
The ultrasound technicians, nurses, and everyone in the office save the manager were great. I was unfortunately referred to the second doctor I should have seen, causing confusion, but that was not on their side. I had an appointment on a Monday at 8am. I tried calling 3 days straight to reschedule. Thursday, Friday, AND Monday, which then failed to reach anyone and I could not cancel through mychart. I am high risk and stress is not great for me, let alone being spoken to like I am ignorant when the office dropped the ball three times on me. This practice has given me 2 great doctors, and one male OB that seemed too hyped up to sit and listen for five minutes, and the nurses and techs gave better care. I do not have to and will not deal with this. I will go elsewhere with more competent doctors. Maybe this is why so many people warn others NOT to come here. This was ridiculous and an obvious and blatant lack of care. I had spoken to patient advocacy due to getting hit with a no call, no show. You can't cancel the appointments through mychart, then no one wants to answer the phone within posted business hours. That is a gross oversight and not on patient side. Avoid this practice, it is not worth the stress, headache, or clear lack of care for patient experience. The advocate was more concerned in aiding to rectify the situation when she herself is not a medical professional or associated with the practice. This place was not, and at this point I trust them with nothing. I should have listened to my friends and family, that part is on me.
My experience with Lexington Women's Care OB/GYN & MFA is deeply mixed — and at its worst, bordered on medical negligence. I'll start with the good, because it deserves to be said: Drs. Mather, Adams, and Skinner are genuinely excellent physicians. They listened, communicated clearly, and treated their patients with real compassion and bedside manner. In a practice this large, they stand out as the standard everyone else should be held to. Dr. Chapman left a poor first impression during my client's care: he simply did not inspire confidence as an OB. But nothing compares to what happened with Dr. Estes a couple of years ago. I want to be very clear about this because it caused serious, preventable harm. Approximately two to three months after my ex-wife delivered via C-section, she began experiencing significant abdominal pain. When she presented to Dr. Estes with these concerns, they were dismissed entirely. Worse, Dr. Estes' manner strongly implied, without any diagnostic workup, that she was simply seeking pain medication. She was not taken seriously. She was not examined thoroughly. She was sent away. What Dr. Estes failed to diagnose was a golf ball-sized abscess that had formed beneath the healing C-section incision. Because her concerns were ignored at this practice, I was forced to take my ex-wife to multiple other physicians and emergency rooms before finally finding a doctor who actually listened and ordered imaging — imaging that immediately revealed the abscess. The result was a seven-day hospital stay and surgery that may well have been entirely preventable had Dr. Estes done his job the first time. A smaller abscess, caught earlier, very likely could have been treated without surgical intervention. Dismissing a postpartum woman's pain as drug-seeking behavior, without any imaging or diagnostic effort, is not just poor medicine — it is dangerous and, frankly, disgraceful. When concerns were raised with practice administrator Jennifer McMillan, rather than receiving accountability or empathy, we were met with a condescending attitude that made clear patient advocacy was not a priority for practice leadership. On top of all of this, the practice's scheduling setup creates unnecessary stress from the very first interaction. They will schedule appointments for 8:00 AM — but their own phones don't open for calls until 8:30 AM. Their website lists 8:30 AM as their opening time, and you have to scroll down and hunt carefully to find that MFA technically opens at 8 but won't accept calls until 8:30. Scheduling a patient for a time they literally cannot reach you is a small thing, but it's emblematic of a practice that doesn't think carefully about the patient experience. If you are seeking prenatal or postpartum care here, specifically request Drs. Mather, Adams, or Skinner. Avoid Dr. Chapman if you want a confident, thorough OB. And under no circumstances should any postpartum patient presenting with pain be seen by Dr. Estes. The consequences, as we learned the hard way, can be severe.
I am so thankful for Dr. Skinner. She truly cares about her patients. I have never received such amazing care in over 20 years! The staff is friendly and efficient. I have nothing but wonderful things to say. Thank you so much for being wonderful.
The doctors at this practice are excellent—knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely skilled. Unfortunately, the experience leading up to seeing them tells a very different story. For a practice that provides expensive women’s healthcare—not free services—you would expect basic courtesy from the LPNs and front-desk staff. Instead, what I encountered was a level of indifference and attitude that felt completely out of place in a medical setting. I waited 55 minutes after check-in before seeing the doctor. When I asked politely for water or at least the direction of a fountain, my request was ignored and met with an exaggerated eye roll. She later walked by with her own water bottle as if to prove a point. It’s honestly shocking: what kind of healthcare worker ignores a patient asking for water? That is the bare minimum standard of human decency, not a favor. The doctors themselves are outstanding, but the staff’s behavior undermines the entire patient experience. No one paying this much for care should be treated with dismissiveness or disrespect. Basic compassion is not optional in healthcare.
Very professiona & friendly staff always willing to work with you holly recommended!
I loved this place from my first pregnancy. Just went back and the ultrasound tech, Ashley, inserted the transvaginal wand like she had never done it before. Angling it in a way that would hurt anybody; and even told me to cover myself with the sheet! When I said ow that hurts, she stopped and gave me attitude when saying “OK scoot down, and lay your legs down” no apology or anything. I reported it to the manager and she just dismissed me, not believing the tech did her job incorrectly. Manager also didn’t believe me when I said there was an error in my records and wrote it in the visit summary anyway.
The staff seem like they are there to just hangout and not taking care of patients. I can never get a call back regarding scheduling a surgery, they always say she’s not in the office.
Sorry this is long but I wanted to share my full experience. I had an appointment with Donna Andrews back in February to get my IUD replaced. Nothing out of the ordinary during the appointment. Donna just said it would take between 4-6weeks to get everything arranged with insurance. This week I got a call to let me know that the cost for me to get the IUD would be $2,032. My insurance covers birth control so that didn’t sound right. After many calls with Lexington Women’s Care and my insurance, I found out the reason for the cost is that Donna input the IUD as treatment for a bleeding disorder, not contraception. I was never diagnosed nor did Donna say anything about this during my appointment. My insurance told me that if Donna changes her inputs to make the IUD for birth control, I will get it for $0. I assumed it was a mistake and left a message for Donna so that we could get it corrected. Her nurse called me back yesterday and I gave her all the information. She told me she would speak to Donna and call me back. Today she called me and let me know Donna would not be changing the medical codes to my insurance. Donna says that during my appointment I said my husband has a vasectomy so I don’t need further birth control. I stated that vasectomies aren’t 100% effective and I still want my own protection. I also asked various scenarios like what if I’m attacked and raped. How will my husband’s vasectomy protect me from a pregnancy? The nurse told me she doesn’t have the power to change anything but that she’d talk to Donna again. Up until this point I have trusted doctors to do what’s best for me but this isn’t about care. It’s about money. Donna charged me this way because she could get more money filing it as a treatment not a contraceptive. If I hadn’t asked questions or contacted my insurance, my husband and I would be searching for ways to save $2000 or even going without. That’s not ok. No woman should ever be told they can’t have birth control because of their husband. I hope they do better.
