My 14 year old son was seen Sunday-Tuesday for abdominal pain. Seen 3 differemt times, by 3 different physicians, and diagnosed with 3 different things! Wednesday morning and all through the day my son was still having abdominal, knowing that there was something more severe than what we were being told at Brookings Health System Emergency Department I decided to drive my son to Sanford Emergency Department in Sioux Falls. After waiting in the ER all day due to it being so busy, my son was diagnosed with appendicitis and I was told his appendix may have ruptured after waiting so long and he was going to be taken into Emergency surgery to have it removed. Myself believe there is a lot of malpractice going on at Brookings Health System, whether it may be due to an individual's insurances or we being Native American, I don't not know! But I feel like something needs to be looked into and I am holding this hospital responsible for my son's condition and all the pain & suffering that was caused! I will never use this facility again for any one of my family members!

My wife went in twice, just to have the wrong treatment done and care. The second time, they ruled it off as her anxiety over the DnC.She ended up going to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, and had a huge infection from the DnC diagnosed with Endometritis and was hospitalized for a few days.Never going back. She deserved better care.

The staff here are so awesome! They've been taking care of our father whom is passing. The care is overwhelming! I want to mention a person from your house keeping staff, "Rachel". She was very nice and gave the room special attention. I thanked her for being here and what she did! It's people like her and the rest of your staff that make this hospital an awesome place! Thank you!

Back in March I asked my Sanford nurse down at SF if I could do my infusions here at Brookings Health System instead of in Sioux Falls (I live in Brookings). At this time Sanford was providing my Remicade. The nurse told me on 3/10 that she called the Brookings Health System and they said they did not provide Remicade any longer and that this was a "new development", but instead will only offer a biosimilar. My doctor does not want me moving to a biosimilar due to volatility of my problems currently, so I was unable to go here, which was fine. I understand medical contracts and all that can be difficult and cost determines much of the health provider's services. However...A month back my insurance no longer wanted to allow the hospitals to provide my remicade, so they switched to white bagging, which is when the insurance company strikes a deal with a specialty pharmacy and that pharmacy sends the drug to the hospital where I get my infusions. Since that means neither Sanford nor Brookings Health System would actually provide my remicade, but instead an independent company would mail it to the pharmacy.On 6/8 I called BHS, they transferred me to scheduling, then I explained that I wanted to see if they would be able to do my infusions. I do understand I need a physician referral to actually get my infusions moved over, but I wanted to do the initial research myself first before bothering my doctor's office. She transferred me to the onsite pharmacy, and he told me they won't do my outpatient infusion servicing because they don't have a process to handle white bagging. Because of that I have to drive to Sioux Falls every 6 weeks even though I live 4 blocks from a fully staffed hospital with an outpatient department.I would give them 1 or 2 stars for this but on the flip side my other experiences have been good. They have the fancy medical equipment the Sanford Clinic doesn't so when Sanford Clinic needs a scan with something they just send me to here instead of Sioux Falls, which saves me a lot of time since I don't have to drive down there.I will also say the nurses there are always very nice to me which I appreciate a lot. I also had an xray technician who was such a funny guy and brightened my day up.

I have been to the ER twice now in excruciating pain. The Dr didn't give me anything for pain relief, and the second time he poked my belly and told me I don't have the hernia which was previously diagnosed by a cat scan in New Mexico. The Dr. Is not really doing anything to help people and I think he needs to quit.

Very clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

The nursing staff was exceptional! The emergency room was on the money!

Friend of mine keeps going with the same issue and they just keep making more appointments... to make more appointments, then another appointment for a test. It never ends. I would avoid and got to a real Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
