I transferred from Dr. Thummala to a different oncologist. Dr. Thummala treated me for breast cancer and things took a turn for the bizarre after chemotherapy treatment when I opted for no reconstruction after my surgery. Every follow up after I went flat, Dr. Thummala made comments about me being flat and telling me I need reconstruction. After many follow up appointments with me repeating to her Im happy with my choice I realized she is never going to stop & I deserve to be treated by a doctor who respects me and doesnt make unnecessary, unprofessional and hurtful comments about my physical appearance that have zero to do with my health. Flat closure is a popular option for women who dont want reconstruction, no additional surgeries needed, faster recovery, less chance for complications from implants, its a popular, legitimate choice that many women make and Dr. Thummala should not be forcing her outdated opinions that women need curves etc. to her breast cancer patients.

For those that have a problem or an issue with the Dr Thumbala move on I cant blame you a patient and a doc dont always see eye to eye. I think its the language of doctors only another hemotoilist, cancer specialist can understnd what is going on you kind of have to trust her to have you back, but if you are not so trusting find another one there are tons of them out there even at her place of work That you can communicate with better to me she is kind, caring and very knowledgeable has excellent credentials and is a top doc in the nation so no way Im changing. So you want your hand held and get into feelings lean on your family, she is cut and dry and to the point. She sees 40 patients a day so not much time for any of that
Dr. Thummala is a wonderful, caring ad compassionate person. The prior reviews make her sound awful and she is nothing like that! She explained my condition so I would understand, the procedures I will need, asked many questions. She was very genuine. Dont judge Dr. Thummala by reading the bad reviews. Make your decision.
Dr. Thummala is the worst specialist I have encountered. She has zero bedside manner, very rude and talks down to her patients. I will be transferring to another physician who doesnt have a God complex.
Read other comments about rude, condescending, and generally abrasive. Has a very nasty disposition. Dictates but does not listen to you. Most importantly, she is generally awful. Works very fast, misses key details. Trust her at your own risk. I dont know how CCC could employ her, or any other medical group for that matter. Her reputation is deserved. CCC is an outstanding medical organization with many outstanding doctors; she does not fit in at all with the quality of their medical staff
Horribe. Talked extremely fast and was only concerned about how many patients she was able to see in a day. Terrible doctor!
If I could give zero stars to this doctor, I would. My first appointment was cancelled and my second appointment was rescheduled twice and although I have had pain in my breast for six months now, she never physically examined me but put her hand into my bra while I had my sweater on. She then referred me to a breast surgeon who doesnt take my insurance. I never had a second mammogram, nor a sonogram nor a MRI. She has no empathy nor exhibited any concern or caring for me whatsoever.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I would never recommend this doctor. She lacks the compassion and patience to be an oncologist. Amazing experience with every doctor at the hospital with this exception of her. She was incredibly condescending, arrogant and actually spoke over me and told me and father to stop interrupting her when we were trying to navigate through the questions we needed answered to get the care we needed and deserved. Incredibly abrasive and completely unprofessional.
I would never recommend Dr. Thummala to ANYONE. She was my hematologist before oncologist and lacks the compassion necessary to be an oncologist. She quit chemo on me after I couldn’t get ahold of any nurse (lunch break must be hours long). I ended up going to the ER. They admitted me on the spot. I was there 3 days. She quit treatment and literally said “it made me look bad to my colleagues that you were hospitalized” and that maybe my body couldn’t handle chemo and she was quitting treatment.
besides having a terrific bedside manner, one who takes a genuine interest in her patients wellbeing, she is competent in her field. I trust her implicitly. like many people I dread going to the doctor but I always look forward to seeing her.
Dr. Thummala is prompt, compassionate, and very informative about my breast cancer, , I feel very confident and safe with her managing my cancer.
Dr. Anu Thummala MD met my Dad in the hospital emergency room when he was really sick. My father battled cancer for a few years already, my father and my family immediately liked her and he became her patient, today is a few months after he has been treated by her and he is back to normal self his tumor shrunk with the medication she put him on and he does not do chemo. she always been there for him and always with a beautiful smile and positive attitude. Thank you Dr. for giving me my Dad back
While Dr. Thummala seemed very knowledgeable of post surgical cancer treatment strategies, she lacked patient sensitivity and thoroughness when recommending a treatment plan. She also seemed unprepared for the appts not having all the tests results available. She also was short and kurt, when I asked certain questions concerining chemo and finally she just seemed more interested in advocating for chemo drug therapies versus convincing me that chemo was even necessary when all scans were clean.
Its apparent that Dr. Thummala had no interest in listening to what I had to say about how I was feeling, yet all she had to offer as an explanation were things my primary doctor already tested. She stated what Im pretty sure all doctors state when they are at a loss for a real diagnosis and that was do you maybe have anxiety or depression?. I do understand the effects of those on health, but when my other docs and specialists are testing for MS, it shows my symptoms are more than anxiety.
She is absolutely the kindest, most professional, AND thorough Dr. I have ever seen. Unfortunately, Ive seen a lot of doctors, for variety of problems. I wish I could use her for all of them.
