I start this review knowing that specialist in health care in San Antonio are very busy and their offices are stressed. I also know and acknowledge that there are many issues in our healthcare system which can cause issues in care. That being said my review of Urology San Antonio has to do with customer service and patient care follow up. A little over a month ago I was in the hospital with a large kidney stone and had to have a stent (tube). After the surgery I was told the urologist would reach out to schedule a follow up for me. After I called persistently for about a week, they managed to "squeeze me in". When I went to the appointment there was not talk about future treatment or how long the stent would be in, it was a "hello, you're fine, we'll call you." And they never called. It was only after I was put back in the hospital because of a kidney infection which got into my blood, because of the stent, that I was able to reach somebody that I should be considered to be scheduled for surgery. While I was in the hospital for a week, each day the attending reach out to Urology San Antonio, to consult on treatment and follow up care and they couldn't be bothered to call, page, send an email or show up. On the day I was sent home from the hospital I called Urology San Antonio surgery scheduler 3 times to finally get a person, not on break, to schedule an appointment for surgery. I got the information for surgery and figured out how to pay for it, which they were not helpful with in their payment plan options. Only to show up and be told that my case does not fall in the surgery center parameters and I would have to do the surgery with the doctor at a local hospital. When I asked when that would be scheduled I was told that I had to call the scheduler once the doctor put in the request. When I asked to speak with the doctor I was told he wasn't in today - which makes me wonder where he was if I was scheduled for surgery today, why wasn't he there. I told them that it took me forever to get this appointment and I don't trust their communication skills and asked for a plan to ensure this wouldn't happen and I wouldn't be forgotten. They only replied, the surgery scheduled will call you once the order from the doctor has been placed and we will notify him tomorrow when he comes in. Again, I know specialist are stressed and busy. However, Urology San Antonio has dropped the ball severely is my patient care. The fact that I had a kidney infection and in the hospital and they NEVER showed up or called to offer assistance makes me wonder just how much they care about the patients they see. I'm currently trying to see if I can seek other doctors to get this stent and stone removed, but it doesn't look like it. So I'm stuck with healthcare professionals who don't care about their patients and struggler with appropriate communication. Please consider this when you choose an urology center for yourself and your family. I know I will. Thank you.
Dr. Meissner has great bedside manners and is thorough with your needs. He offers steps to alleviate pain with my IC and OAB. I felt comfortable leaving that he and his staff will be able to help me get through this tough journey and hopefully back to myself.
Dr Kurt was amazing. He was very caring at my first appointment and made me feel very comfortable. He answered all my questions.
Dr Meissner is a miracle worker! He was the fourth Dr I went to with my problem. I wish he was the first. He and his staff are friendly, professional, and the best. I cannot thank you enough!
Punctual, staff was efficient. Office is professional and orderly. Dr. Miessner was open to remarks and concerns. Left with a caring feeling.
Excellent staff and very knowledgeable and friendly doctor. I will be returning for my follow ups.
I have known Dr. Meissner since he was a 3rd year medical student. I have been a patient for close to 20 years and received 2 surgeries. Obviously I am very happy with the care I have received or would not have continued my care with him.
My husband just had his vasectomy procedure at this office on Friday July 2,21. He said the Doctor and nurses were great with him. I just want the staff to be aware of what happened to us so that it will not happen to anyone else. My husband walked out and looked fine and said he felt good that he was ready to go. I was confused on why no one had walked him out and explained anything or asked him if anyone was with him to drive him home. I figured since they had released him that he really was good to go. So my husband, two kids and I walked out. My husband drove us out of the parking lot onto the street. Luckily we hit a red light as soon as we drove out. Because my husband fainted! In the drivers seat! I immediately put the car on park and turned our hazards on. I yelled out for help and my kids were screaming for their dad. I kept shaking him to wake up. A few minutes later he woke up and didn't know where we were at or how we got there. I yelled for him to pull over and I drove us back to the clinic and ran in to ask for someone to come to our car and check my husband who had just fainted on us. He was shaking and sweating heavily. They should not have let him walk out so quickly after his procedure. I don't think the anesthesia had completely worn out. Or someone should have walked out with him to make sure someone else was driving him home. He looked good when he walked out . He even said the nurse told him " Ok you are good to go!" Things could've been so much worse. We could have been further down the road on the freeway or on a bridge, on a loop. By some miracle we hit a red light with no traffic. The staff needs to be more aware with their patients. My kids and I had the biggest scare of our lives that day. I just don't want this to happen to another family. Someone should have walked him out or they should have kept him there longer to make sure the anesthesia had worn out. They should walk the patient out and always make sure the patient has someone picking them up and driving them. Even if they look like they are fine.
I was SO pleased with my experience with Dr. Meissner and SA Urology. Their offices are so easy to find and have plenty of parking. I had a very short wait before being taken back and everyone was so cordial and efficient. Dr. Meissner was so knowledgeable and friendly That I immediately trusted his opinions. It was determined that I would have to have lithotripsy the next week and that experience was just as good. My follow-up visit was also very successful!
What can one say about a Physician thats saves your life. And on top of that makes every day more comfortable to live and enjoy life ! "A Hero" That's Kurt Meissner to me. :-)

Dr Meisner has been a blessing to both me and my husband. He is a wonderful doctor.
Dr. Meissner is very easy to talk to and is very knowledgable. But, the best at Urology of San Antonio is the staff. They are truly concerned with each and every patient.
