Kenneth Leon Wilkins's Online Review Report Card

Husband and I shopping for another doctor due to a lack of care or concern. Dr. Wilkins nurse said he was adamant about his decision not to call in a prescription (replacement for a 1 year one he prescribed last August.) My previous Doctor of 28 years retired last year. I have been taking the medication for at least two decades. I requested the nurse ask for a refill for a month or two to get me to my yearly apt. NO notification of decision. No regard for side effects I will likely incur.

I find Dr Wilkins to be very professional, attentive with a good bedside manner. He was able to help me quickly where other doctors had failed me. Where he couldn't help he was quick to recommend someone who could.

Dr. Wilkins was very inattentive. He did not take the time to properly discuss any issues I came in for. Total time spent was probably less than 10 minutes. He did take the time however to write a prescription that we did not take The time to discuss properly.

My visits have primarily been wellness visits so no intense follow up is necessary. Thanks...

Very cold and professional.

Terrible experience and bedside manner. Never looked me in the eyes or explained anything about why I was visiting. I explained that my lower leg had been hurting, especially around my veins. Dr. Wilkins spent less than 2 minutes with me and couldn't have seemed less interested in me as a patient. I went to another doctor the following day and they diagnosed a blood clot in my lower leg and had me in for a scan within hours. The doctor I went to see wasn't even receiving new patients, but I explained the problems I was having and they insisted that I come in. The Dr. spent at least 30 minutes with me and genuinely cared about my well being. Dr. Wilkins' staff also never followed up with me, except for sending a ridiculous $265 bill. I have since tried following up to express my displeasure and have always been assured that someone would get back in touch with me to help remedy the situation, but no one has ever called. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Wilkins to anyone that actually cared about their health.

Dr. Wilkins dismissed my concerns about my health and progressive symptoms. He disregarded the information I provided to him and basically blew me off. This was disconcerting as I am an experienced health care professional. He ordered tests, yet never followed up with the results. Had I not seen a cardiologist, who confirmed I was in complete heart failure, I very well could have died. I had open heart surgery within 24 hours at Vanderbilt. As it turns out, all the symptoms I was describing to him were exactly on the mark (as confirmed by chest x-Rays, lab tests and echocardiogram). He treated me like I was making the symptoms up to get attention. I'm surprised he's still employed by Vanderbilt due to his poor diagnostic skills. Stay away if you value your health and well-being.

Terrible experience, had blood test order, was told they would be in within a couple of days, a 1.5 weeks later, I had to inquire myself thru the nurse. Then no response, had to inquire yet again. It was a very important blood test for which I was needing to know. He never really looked me in the eye, was just glued to his computer screen talking to me. I need someone that is engaging and at least pretends to care. And then most important, do what you say you are going to do, or at least inform me if you can follow thru on something.

we had a very bad experience. He ordered a bunch of tests but did not understand the results. after ordering an expensive ultrasound the doctor would not talk about the results over the phone but required another office visit. at that visit he could not explain the results and actually said that we should have gone to a specialist and was not sure why we came back to his office at all. this doctor never looked you on the eye but instead kept his eyes on his computer. this was a waste of time and money.

I've seen Dr. Wilkins three times. The first time I saw him for a prescription refill. My old physician moved, so I needed a new one. He was in and out very quickly, but I was really direct about what I needed. He convinced me to come in for a physical a few months down the road. He was very short and seemed uninterested. I was peeved that he asked me if I was a new patient, especially since he convinced me I needed a physical. The third time I saw him was again for a very specific medicine-related issue, but this time he was much more friendly and open. He asked several questions and I felt like he genuinely wanted to know about my medical issue and help with my treatment. I was honestly considering changing to a new physician, but I'm going to continue seeing him because of his improved demeanor. I must have caught him on a bad day for my first two appointments.
