List of Frederick A Martin's Reviews
I am a retired college professor with high standards for myself & my students and consider myself a tough marker. A rather small % ofmy students, overall, have received the grade of A, even though I considered them excellent students, but I have reserved the grade ofA for stellar students, equivalent to high honors, whereas a B gradeI considered honors. I am more than happy to say that Dr. Frederickreceives off-the-chart marks from me; if I could go higher than 5 stars,WAY higher, I certainly would. He examined me several years ago whenI had a transient ischemic attack (TIA), which scared me something awful. But he was so calming and warm and supportive that he made me feelreassured. About six weeks ago, I awoke from a bad dream and knew instantly that something was very wrong: I felt confused, disoriented, dizzy, and my memory was in a deep fog. I made an appointment withDr. Frederic and he ordered an MRI scan; I told him, based on what I have heard about MRI's and my claustrophobia, I could and would not undergo that, for I would feel trapped in a coffin and would have a severe panic attack. He fully understood & agreed to order a Cat-Scan instead, which wasa piece of cake for me, really. The results of the brain scan showed no major damage from the stroke, but the carotid scans showed my left carotid is mostly occluded & my right totally obstructed. While my long-term memory was not affected in the least, my short-term memory most certainly was. Isometimes have difficulty remembering some incidents that occurred just a few minutes ago. When he initially examined me, he asked me to remember as many objects as I could after he named them to me, and after five seconds I could only remember ONE. I was devastated, especially since long-term memory allows me to remember incidents from DECADES ago with absolute precision down to the smallest details. Now I am training my mind to FOCUS attentively on details in the short term, with some improvement. The doctor said, when I mentioned that, due to coronary artery disease as well as carotid stenosis, I thought I might have 3-7 months left to live at the low end and 3-7 years more at most. He said, "Ken, you probably have much longer than you think, considering your lifestyle of nutritious diet, exercise, low weight, low blood pressure, and so on." I truly feel BLESSED to have him as my neurologist. With a Yale medical degree & internship at the Univ. of California, it doesn't get much better than that technically. But his 'bedside manner' ( his warmth, kindness, concern, and sensitivity ) is IMPECCABLE. If you are looking for a good neurologist, please search no further, as you couldn't find a better one if you searched the whole country!
He hasn't been at 1125 N College in years, according to the receptionist.
Besides being one of the best Peripheral Neurologists, this fellow is a real "Mensch"; a good human being! Excellent bedside manner and treatment. He'll help you right to the limits of what can be done, and be honest with you if there's a plateau you've hit. Some doctors will keep telling you "more tests are needed," but not this guy. If it's not going to do you any good, he won't prescribe it for you. A very good man.
BE HEALTHY FIRST! I appreciate your wanting to go on Missions! I don’t understand why you don’t have a doctor on staff to take over while you’re gone. ALL of your patients must already be extremely healthy to begin with! With heart issues I need someone available. Isn’t that what a Doctor is supposed to do?? I guess I missed a ‘bullet’ by not coming into your fold.. Will NOT recommend you to anyone because, apparently, you can’t be a ‘Real Doctor’ by having someone available from your office.
Dr. Martin is an excellent neurologist and I have known him now for over five years. He is very knowledgable and experienced. He has helped me tremendously and I would highly recommend him for his skill with neurological disorders. He has worked tirelessly with me in my efforts to recover from my traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Dr. Martin is a knowledgeable physician who is also very kind to me as his patient. A doctor who listens is becoming a rarity. The appointments run very close to on time and his office manager is also efficient and nice. I think if you need a neurologist, you would do well with Dr. Martin.
I have always had excellent experiences with Dr. Martin.
Caring/helpful/kind/never pushy/never impatient/short wait times...never any downside to our appointments.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
