Dr Wallen was excellent with my 9 month old! He explained everything so well and actually went out of his way for a proper diagnosis! Would recommend everyone to see him.

Dr. Wallen and staff provide excellent care and follow up. He listens and is respectful of the kinds of medications/treatments you take and don't want to take.

I have a long history with asthma and allergies. Food allergies run in my family, and I was developing hot red hive rashes sporadically which lasted for 2-6 hours, so I was tested years ago. I was tested by Dr. Pienkowski (Not from Highlands) and given a list of food allergies to avoid. I began the difficult task of adjusting my diet to remove all these foods. The rashes went away, and I didn't see any for years unless I lapsed and ate one of those foods. Fast forward to earlier this year, the rashes began reappearing. I had read that allergies can change and develop, so I decided to go have food allergy testing done again. I chose Highlands Allergy to have this done, and so I called to check the pricing, gave them my insurance info, and was told that after my insurance adjustments I would owe about $250 for the testing. Much MUCH higher than Dr. Pienkowski, but I decided to do it anyway. I went for my appointment in October, around Halloween, and it outdid every horror experience I've ever had. They required me to do a spirometry test to verify that I could indeed breath before they would do the allergy testing. Big surprise, I can. They proceeded to do the testing on my back, and decided to not even read the food allergies (the entire reason I came) but instead gave me a whole list of trees and grass that I'm allergic to. I've been told my whole life I am allergic to trees and grass. Why does it matter if I'm allergic to the environment? It's not like I can just sit inside my apartment all day, and put tin foil over all the windows and pray nothing seeps in. These tests are a scam just to get your money. Meanwhile, they decided to do subcutaneous testing on my arm for "some" allergies which they selected, and chose more environmental allergies. Again, the entire reason I came here was to see what food allergies I had developed so I could remove those items from my diet to stop the rashes again. Then Dr Wallen came and talked to me to tell me about all the pharmaceuticals he wanted to see me on. I suppose he gets some good kickbacks from Big Pharmacy. Even though I had explained to the staff that I don't like drugs and I prefer natural options, there was absolutely no homeopathic or naturalistic advice given, offered, nor referred. So I left the office, not getting the food allergy list that was the entire reason I visited. Meanwhile, I get a bill for $1100. Eleven. Hundred. Dollars. Almost $900 more than they told me it would be - for environmental allergy testing and breathing testing which I DIDN'T EVEN ASK FOR, NOR WANT DONE. ****************************************** They literally scammed me of eleven hundred dollars and didn't even do what I asked to be done! ****************************************** When I later called to ask why I didn't get my food allergy results because I knew I had at least some food allergies, the nurse simply digressed from answering my question and began to criticize Dr. Pienkowski and suggest that he wasn't a real doctor and that he had scammed me. I pray you don't make the same mistake I did. Don't go to this place. You will regret it if you do. Go to Dr. Pienkowski instead.
