Blames the patient when another doctor refers you to him when surgery is not needed. How would we know? He gets paid for the visit, so just be POLITE about it! I do not recommend.
I am a workers comp patient so I guess that’s why he treated me poorly, I drove 2hrs to talk to him for 10 seconds, he doesn’t listen to understand he listens to respond, worse experience I ever had from a doctor actually the first time I’ve had a bad experience with a doctor.
Dr. Burt was the 5th doctor I saw. The rest could not find the problem, he zeroed right in on it. I had a shattered neck. My quality of life was at almost zero. He did surgery rebuilt three vertebrae, put into artificial disc and a metal plate in my neck. After suffering for several years with this Affliction I was finally able to get on with my life. And I must say my quality of life is that almost 100%. I'm 71 years old and I had this surgery 15 years ago and we have. I can't thank him enough.
I went to Dr Burt for a discectomy in October of this year and I have to say that I was thoroughly pleased with the care that I received before and after surgery. Dr. Burt and his physicians assistant discussed every option with me and were upfront with any complications with whatever treatment I decided to go. I chose to have surgery and everything went well, even finding other issues and fixing them when they did the procedure. I went home the next day and did my part to heal quickly. I returned to work a little over 4 weeks after surgery and haven't had any issues from what was repaired. I would recommend highlands neurosurgery and Dr. Burt to anyone needing a specialist. I am ecstatic about my results!
I hate that i have to even give him one star just to be able to post a review because he deserves nothing. My mom is 76 years old and he done nothing but degraded her! Im on vacation so hes lucky i wasnt with her and my older sister. I was an employee of BRMC for several years and the way he treated her and the things he said makes me feel ashamed to have even worked there!
On first visit I saw Dr Burt. On second visit after having Myelogram did not see Dr Burt only NP and PA even though the NP went a talked to Dr Burt and came back and told me what he said. I don't think it is very professional not to have a face to face with your patient especially after having imaging done. It was over an hour before I was taken to a room or saw anyone. I will find another Dr.
On first visit I saw Dr Burt. On second visit after myelogram did not see Dr Burt to have results interpreted, only saw NP and PA. NP left exam room to go and talk to Dr Burt and then return and tell me what he said. I think it is very unprofessional for a Dr not to see his patient face to face especially when interpretation of results will result in decision to have surgery or not. I was over an hour in the waiting room before seeing the PA. I will find another Dr who is interested in seeing his patients and can keep his appointments.
I saw him in 2018 for a consult on my back. I knew him from before this though, in a professional capacity. I dont believe he took enough time, nor really listened to what I was saying, so I am getting my surgery done elsewhere. Smart man but has no personality or bedside manner. Those who only want a good surgeon and not worried about personality, I say there are plenty of good docs here with both, so I will have one with both. I will be paying for this, not the other way around, so I want it all in one person, not to much to ask. To many people in this area treat docs like they are better than sliced bread, thus giving many of them a god-complex. Let them start losing business and you will see how quick they have a nice personality to their customers all of a sudden.
Dr. Burt is very knowledgeable regarding spine conditions and answers any and all questions. His surgical skills are excellent. Following cervical spine surgery, healing was complete with no complications. I highly recommend Dr. Burt.
This poor excuse for a human being treated my father like a piece of waste. My father has worked underground in the coal mines for thirty five years and was injured by a falling piece of 300 lb piece of tubing directly in the back of his head and neck. He now has two disc messed up in his neck and severe pain in his neck, numbness and tingling in arm and hand and constant headaches. This man told him there was nothing they could do for him and would be releasing him for work soon. Now he has my father doing painful physical thearpy four hours a day, five days a week. He is basically trying to punish dad into going back into the mines and off of workers comp. He was rude, demeaning, unprofessional and just plain inhumane. I should only hope he is one day in the pain my father is and he gets the same medical care he gave my father. Do not go to him, he works for comp not his patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
