List of Jody Benton Helms's Reviews
I found Dr. Helms to be an outstanding Dr. He listened to all my aches, and found a solution. He was not quick to suggest surgery. He tried other treatment first. He is very caring and really wanted to help me with my back pain. I am six month post op and doing great. I would recommend him and have to anyone.
66 yr old with osteoporosis getting multiple opinions but Dr Helms says exactly what the book says and he’s cordial with good eye contact, not dismissive or condescending, and he listens. No procedures to report yet but I have found an office and a surgeon I like. I was in and out in 55 minutes.
Solved my back problem without surgery!!
This guy is in the pocket of the insurance companies. He never made an attempt to help me! Hope he looses his license
He was wonderful! very nice and did a GREAT job on my back. I was scared because of the Horrible stories I have heard. But I could not have asked for a better outcome. The Office staff was wonderful so nice and helpful. I had a ton of insurance forms that needed to be completed they completed with out hesitation. And even worked with me on my after insurance balance.
I went to see Dr. Helms with severe pain in my left hip, radiating down the inside of my leg, with extreme burning in the inside of my lower leg, accompanied by electrical pulsation running out my left toes. Dr. Helms diagnosed me with Spinal Stenosis and said, "You need surgery now." I had the surgery with no complications and have been walking three or more miles everyday with absolutely NO PAIN, with NO medication. Dr. Helms is a professional, kind, caring Dr. and so knowledgeable in what he does. Spinal problems? See Dr. Helms.
I do not recommend going to this office, Dr Jody Helms only spends like 5min or so with you and kind of dismisses your symptoms when you know or tried to explain what is going on. I took a family member there and she was crying after visit bc felt like not wanting to help her. Also the lady at check out is rude and would not make eye contact and very short speaking with us. the only nice person was the nurse that took us back to the exam room. Find another physican.
I know specialty and other doctors are few and far between in this area, and I know others seem to have a good experience with Dr. Helms, but I found him to be very condescending and unhelpful. I am very overweight and my weight is constantly up and down. Doctors seem to disagree whether or not I have a ruptured disc in my back. He said there is nothing he can do for me. Luckily, I have a chiropractor who helps me with the periformis muscle that goes across my sciatic nerve, tightening so much I can’t walk without assistance until it loosens up. That is something I think he could have told me. He just didn’t seem to have interest in helping me. I’m glad for the other patients who have had better luck, I think he just saw me as a fat person who needed to lose weight, which I do, but I am having nerve problems in my back that I need help with.
Left without feeling like he understood my daughters symptoms and she left crying. the only good thing was the nurse that took us back to the exam room.....only one who seems nice or listened. Do not go here
Was introduced to the problem medically and what the procedure would be. Surgery went well and I left hospital immediately after surgery

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
