List of Joseph H Harpole's Reviews
The staff are outrageously unprofessional, incompetent, and unempathetic. I was referred to this office due to severe pain stemming from a herniated disc and resulting sciatica. I made an appointment for an epidural injection to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. I was not asked for medical records or to make an initial appointment for a consultation or examination. I assumed it was because I was referred to the office by another medical provider. 3 weeks later and 2 days before my appointment, a receptionist called to inform me that my insurance company had not yet approved the procedure. The following day, another staff person called to inform me that my insurance company denied coverage and that I should follow up with the company. Upon doing so, I learned the following: the staff requested coverage for the wrong procedure (an exploratory injection) and the medical office, not patients, are required to follow up with the insurance company. Upon calling the medical office again I learned the following. The staff unilaterally scheduled me for an exploratory injection despite advising me that I would be receiving an epidural injection. The reason for this: because they did not have my medical records. Notably, I am in possession of those records and they never asked me for them or told me that they needed them. Also, my prior medical provider's office confirmed they never received a request for my records. The staff at this office advised me that they would obtain my records and submit a request to the insurance company for the correct procedure. They did not and, instead, allowed the time alloted by the insurance company to submit an accurate request to expire. Upon calling the office again to speak to a manager, I was advised that there is no management beyond the physician who, notably, never bothered to follow up with me concerning this mattter, despite my complaints to his office and the referring physician. As a result of the incompetence and misrepresentions of the staff and lack of follow up from the physician, I was forced to remain in significant pain for over 3 additional weeks while waiting for an appointment with another provider who did get approval from my insurance company and ultimately performed the procedure. The worst part of this experience was the unapologetic and unempathetic behavior of the staff. Even if their actions could be characterized as errors, they continuously made misrepresntations to cover those errors and never sought to rectify them. Also, this office purportedly specialized in pain management for my very condition. So the staff knew how much pain I was in during this ordeal, yet took no remedial actions. They never even offered a consultation or examination appointment with the physician.
This place is actually great. They keep you on a plan for success as long as you make the effort. You get to come in and weight in once a wk or you can modify you visits.Advise: Seink lots of water
I just had my first appointment with Dr. Oppong and he was lovely! He understands full body/rare conditions and had excellent bedside manner. He even called his neurosurgeon friend for us while we were there to discuss my case and send me to the right person to fix my problem, instead of just putting a bandaid over it! His staff has been very kind and helpful in getting my records to where they need to go! They fit me in as an emergency and got me in fast. Five stars all around!
I was pressured into several spinal injections resulting in even more severe pain. No other treatments or relief offered afterwards. Its good to see that others have come forward and reported problems with this pain management center.
Dr Ravenna med weight loss is the best I have been going on and off for a couple years.
Love this place! I wish only success it's a hidden gem. Dr. Ravenna is interesting. I get a sense of eastern philosophy. He gently persuades an awareness of what when and why patients overeat through meditation. He has an instructional booklet with a diet plan. Breathing techniques are encouraged and they do work, if you're willing to put in the effort.
This doctor would look at a much older version of my chart and scold me for my lack of progress! He also wanted to do a procedure where he inserted needles into my spine and wiggled them around to find the nerve while I was awake. He got very angry when I wouldn’t agree to “take a couple Xanax beforehand and do the procedure awake”. Horrible man!!
The staff is nice however I went for one appointment and was never waited on. The lady behind the desk stated, "oh I see you are still here" after I had already been there an hour. I told her I had never been waited on. All she could say is that I was overlooked, although I was there on time for my appointment. At another appointment, she calls me after I had already left and states that I left my prescription. I was never told that I had one. For my very first appointment, i didn't even know I was supposed to have medication called in. I was asked why I didn;t take my meds to help relax me. Perhaps had you called it in, I would have picked it up and took it the day of my appointment. To make matters worse, Dr. Oppong sends the medication down the wrong leg. When I told him it went down the wrong leg, he said it did? You are supposed to be the specialist! I mean he is a nice guy, but I'm in a great deal of pain. It does me no good when the medication goes down the wrong side. That was it for me. Oh yeah, why is it that they do 3 durg screens on you on your first visit without your knowing as if you are a drug addict or something. When I got my first bill it was $1,300.00. I called and filed a complaint. I'm not a drug addict! Needless to say, I'm no longer a patient.
Dr is rude ...I will not go back ...he interrupts and is argumental... He is only in it for the money...I have researched him and could not find a positive review.. Save yourself...don't go there
After my original PM doctor stopped taking my insurance, this was one of the few I could find nearby. I did my discharge paperwork with my prior doc and filled out all the required paperwork with this office. I did the urine screen. I went to my appointment and he said I was not in pain, insisted on injecting me despite my kidney disease that does not make me a candidate for these injections and that I have been misdiagnosed. I was advised that my orthopedist was wrong among other things. Long story short, he said he doesn't prescribe meds (I signed the contract) and that I need to go to PT (which I do). Arrogant, unprofessional, condescending and inappropriate.... Standard of care???? I Don't know how he is In practice. I also was *diagnosed* in 5 minutes as "pill Dependant". He knows nothing about me and didn't even prescribe anything. Do not go here.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
