My child and I have been in this hospital for 27 hours. After staying the night and barely sleeping we got the tests we needed and the neurologist reviewed results at 5-545pm. At 6pm "Dr." Porter came in and seemed senile or fake or maybe on drugs. He did a couple simple tests without even hearing what the problems have been and said he'd get working on our discharge papers. That was 3.5 hours ago. My son is feeling ill due to lack of sleep and lack of food. I went looking for the "Dr." and the nurses said he went home. That was 2 hours ago. Nurses tried paging him and calling him but no answer. All he has to do is message back that we can be discharged. The attending Dr. said Porter left little indication that we can leave. The nurses tried to talk us into signing an AMA to protect the hospital, apparently. I've been told we can't leave or the insurance won't pay for our visit. We feel like we're in hospital purgatory. Don't let this idiot near you or your family.

Dr. Porter seemed more like a fake doctor. He did not know what was going on with my husband every time he came in the hospital room. Not once could he give us any information instead because my husband was their due new epilepsy he was under neurologist care and thank God for that otherwise this doctor would come in the room asking me questions about the neurologist had to say test findings, med, test that been run pretty much everything. My nickname for him was idiot dr. Waste of a degree.

I was admitted for dehydration, he was giving me the maximum IV fluids and I syste swelling bad, I explained to him I had chronic kidney disease for 3 days straight, on the third day I started having trouble breathing... He had given me congestive heart failure due to fluid overload... He charted I failed to inform him of the kidney disease, I told the er doctor, and told the staff on the floor as soon as they put me in my room, Dr Porter is a horrible doctor and he lied inn my chart

My mother went in for a scheduled appointment. She needed her insulin refilled. His office did not have her Part B documents. Instead of him seeing her to prescribed the insulin she needed they turned her away if she did not pay in full. It seems to me that he should have told her that if they did not receive her documents they would bill her for the office visit. It is obvious that his priorities are money. She got his card from another one of his patients who said that he was looking for new patients. Now I see why. Look elsewhere this doctor is all about money and it is very obvious.

I've never had to wait more than 5-10 min. to get back to the examining room, nor have I had to wait over 10 min. for him to come in to see me. I've always been pleased with my visits with him and he's a very caring and thorough dr! I've been going to him for over 10 yrs. now and hope he never leaves Kingsport!

I really like and have enjoyed going to him as my physician and he really cares about his patients! He's easy to talk to and is a good listener and very thorough and never rushes me out the door. I've had many drs in the past who only had maybe 3-5 minutes they would spend with me. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants a good thorough dr.Plus, I looked up his background training and hospital experience and was very impressed with his knowledge. I'm very picky when it comes to drs., and require a certain kind of dr., esp. one I can easily talk to and ask any kind of question about any problems. I'd hate for him to move back home to Chicago!
