List of Sidney W. Collins's Reviews
Appendectomy, Dr Collins was very good, caring Dr. It's what happened post surgery that was a nightmare. Though I went to a post op floor, I got no post op care, at all. I wasnt given an inspiratory spirometer, no coughing or sitting up for me. Room temp was 55, though I begged for a blanket, I got an extra sheet. Then less than 24 hrs after surgery, I was told to take a walk, to my car. By this time my lungs were already affected. I drove home with no memory of that. Next day, I couldn't breathe. Was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia, bilateral pleural effusions and I was scared! Called Dr Collins office but they wouldn't see me until my 4 week appt so my primary care took care of me. My pulmonologist said, "the hospital nearly let me die". Don't go to BRMC, I mean EVER. Travel nurses were what I saw and they really didn't care at all for my life
Caring and always goes above and beyond to help. Gives honest and down to earth answers. Very straightforward, and to the point. That's what you need from your Doctor! FIVE STARS !
Dr. Collins needs to learn a little humility and definitely needs a lesson in compassion. His delivery is arrogant and blunt. He strutted into my brother's hospital room and told him point blank his tumor was terminal and there was nothing that could be done for him. This, mind you, was before we had talked to his other doctors. We thought he simply had a blockage and Collins brashly announces it's a cancerous mass that grows quickly and there's no point in even trying chemo. We were dumbfounded and my brother was devastated. Listen, I'm all about being honest but there's a way to deliver bad news with a little compassion. When the oncologist came in later, she too was stunned that he had told my brother not to bother with chemo. I've looked at his other reviews and apparently, some people think he's a great surgeon. I've always been told really good surgeons were total jerks - and now I believe it. If you don't have feelings or care about how a doctor talks to your loved ones, then by all means, he's your man. We'll pass.
I am going to report him. He talked to my Aunt like a dog and made her cry. Told her smoking was her problem for her wound not to heal. I got news for him he’s nuts just about everybody smokes. I’ll tell him if he was smart and would listen to his patients he might gain some knowledge. I am a medical professional and you don’t make people cry and talk down to them. I will report him and this is a promise.
Dr. Collins is very impersonable. He does not listen to his patients,
He has been kind and focused on me. He listens and attempts to provide feedback whenever asked. He is a straight shooter, but also tempers it with compassion.
Dr. Collins was the only doctor that was always up-to-date on my status. He treated me with great caring and respect. Most importantly, he took excellent care of me. He helped save my life and my legs. He is a truly impressive and compassionate man,
Very thorough, caring surgeon. Was happily suprised when my primary care physcian informed that my surgical condition could be treated at the Drew Memorial Hospital, and Dr. Colling was exceedingly capable. Would happily use him again should the need arise.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
