I am a pastor in Damascus, VA. My experience with Dr. M. began in May of 20014. I had discovered through testing that I had a 100% blockage in my left anterior descending artery. The blockage was located in a place where the only remedy was a surgical procedure. One of the reasons I chose Dr. M. was that a nurse anesthetist in my church works with him regularly and highly recommended him. I was pleased with Dr. M.'s approach, his competency, his willingness to answer my questions and the big fact that he performs a "beating heart surgery," relieving most of his patients from the additional trauma of having their blood re-routed through a heart & lung machine during the surgery. He was excellent, as were the people on his team and in his office. My procedure went as planned, and I have just completed my 3 month mark post-surgery. I feel much better and have begun strenuous workouts on my bike again. I am so thankful for Dr. M. He did a great job in my case and I have spoken to others personally who also hold very similar opinions. I would recommend Dr. Messerschmidt with no hesitations. His bypass work could have quite literally saved my life and he will forever hold my admiration.

Great doctor! My wife has an aneurysm on her aorta and we were really worried about it! His experience showed us some things that we never thought about and he helped calm us down. He is a Christian, and a caring doctor.

After surgery, he only came to see me one time in the hospital. When I told him about some pain and problems, he said, "we didn't do anything to cause that." He ignored my problems and did nothing to try to help me find answers or help me.
