Dr Berger is pompous and a terrible listener. Very rude. Completely misogynistic.

I had the pleasure of having Dr. David Berger perform my surgery. I was nervous but he made me feel very comfortable. I appreicated his bedside manners. Made me feel very good. Phil Locigno

I only had great experience with Dr. Berger. He is very caring about his patients. He guided me through each step of my thyroid issue. I am thankful for him and his staff.

Worst staff and office management I have ever experienced. You can NEVER get through to them by phone. I called 11 times in less than 5 days and either got a busy signal or their third party operator who cannot help you. When I finally got through, they put me on hold for 15 minutes. When they finally answered, the girl thought I was someone else and put me back on hold. The office manager was unapologetic, rude and defensive. She had a very condescending tone and made no effort to rectify the situation. In the past, I have waited over an hour for scheduled appointments; I have had to pay the full invoice amount up front and wait for them to refund me once they billed insurance and their only option for billing is an old school paper bill with no online access. There is no online portal, no email communication and you can rarely reach them by phone. After waiting forever to see the doctor, you will be lucky if he actually spends 10 minutes with you. I recommend finding another doctor.

I had an appointment set in March that I tried to cancel as I had the flu. It was a nasty productive cough for weeks. Given that this is a specialist and people visiting may be immuno-comprimised, I decided to cancel the appointment. Unfortunately because it was the day of, I was considered a no-show. I received another referral to try again, but the office refused to see me due to a policy of no-shows. I understand that, but the circumstances were a little different than not showing up. I called ahead, I didn't no show. I'm an RN student and an 8 year Paramedic, what I did was responsible. I'm sorry the office staff don't care about their patients health and well-being and would rather see them be exposed to a horrible flu strain and possibly become very sick.

Awful place of business. Called several times and the exchange answers. There hours are beyond belief. When I did get a hold of someone they needed a referral that I had in my hands and they did not except. They wanted a primary doctor to send referral or they would not make an appointment. My parent has not seen the doctor yet. There schedule is not capable for assistance. I think the office needs help. I spoke to there exchange and asked them if they lots of complaints? Exchange replied they had lots of complaints. However this is the office Manager's problem and how the office is being run. Don't even come here.

Dr Berger performed bilateral inguinal hernia surgery on me. He explained the procedure to me completely and in terms I could understand. Everything went well and I could not be happier with him.

GREAT office. Maritza and Samantha go a long way to make you feel comfortable. I find them both to be very accommodating and very kind. In far too many physician's offices, a patient feels like a number and a dreary part of their job. Not so here--the staff seems to be very happy!Dr. Berger is very thorough and leaves you with the confidence that he has not missed anything. He was great interpreting my lab and ultra sound results. LOVE THIS OFFICE!

Dr Berger is a wonderful Doctor and is one of the best in the Downey vicinity , however his staff is unprofessional worthless , rude , and combative. It starts with his miserable wife who is the office manager and who can be the poster child for under-active thyroid . They make up there appointment rules depending on there mood swings and it's very unprofessional on many levels due to the fact there playing with our health which I experienced first hand . I can't stress enough how unprofessional they run Dr Bergers office and I can guarantee he is unaware of the school ground behavior that is taking place in the front office. His wife the miserable unpleasant manager and her unprofessional minion staff are giving Dr Berger's establishment a bad reputation and it is very unfortunate . Please research your choices and learn from our experiences .

I have referred to Dr. Berger for my gestational diabetes for my second pregnancy. His office is located downstairs from my PCP so I found that quite convenient. His office waiting area is quite small and gets pretty crowded when he had a lot of patients scheduled on the same day. I did have to wait close to 2 hours at my second appointment due to patient delays etc. It was pretty awful but I was glad that the doctor spent a good amount of time with me during the visit.Dr. Berger looks very stern and cold but he is very through which I loved about him. He takes the time to ask you information, he hand writes everything down about your report and H&P. Told me exactly what I needed to do to prevent needing to take medications for this pregnancy. I started a low carb diet 1.5 weeks prior to seeing him and he allowed me another week prior to doing a fasting and 2 hour glucose test to see how I was doing. This was really nice since I really wanted to avoid taking any insulin or oral medications while pregnant. He provided me a glucometer with some test strips until I next saw him. I stuck with my diet and was able to control my GD without any medications. I saw him last friday and my final fasting and 2 hour results were amazing. He informed me that 50% of GD mothers end up with diabetes after the baby is born so it is vital I continue my low carb diet to ensure I do not have this problem. He is strict, stern and not warm and fuzzy but he is definitely a wonderful doctor. I really respect him.*The only aspect I did not like was his after hours staff: His on call after hours staff Cynthia was very unpleasant, rude and was not helpful. All I asked was for her to relay a call back request if he felt it was necessary. She said she would not since she would get yelled at. It was my first time hearing any after hours person express this. Even if you do get yelled at, you don't tell the concerned patient that right?! Anyways, I brought this up to his attention on my second visit. He chuckled and said he does dictate to his after hours staff not to call unless it is an emergency and in his business, there really isn't much of an emergency. If there is, they are directed to the hospital. I informed him of what she said to me and he apologized, he said I used to get a lot of nonsense calls over the weekend and that's why I implemented a strict rule for them. However, I do apologize for her attitude since she could have relayed the information in a better manner. Though it couldn't take back the anger I had experienced that day, I was happy to have received clarification and validation that she indeed give poor customer service.
