List of Chirag Patel's Reviews
The low reviews are legitimate. It didnt take us long at all to realize that Dr. Patel was not the doctor for us. Unreturned phone calls lack of sincere concern or compassion more interested in getting us into a trial that he is financially compensated for than my husbands health and so many personal bad reviews outside of google were just a few of the reasons we left. We only went to him because our Galen primary referred us to a Galen specialist. But I realized we have a CHOICE. We shop for all large expenses why wouldnt we shop around for the best doctor? Dr. Patel is not the best he just happens to be the the only in the area. Travel if you have to its your life not a car. If you want 50% care for 100% of the money go to Dr. Patel. If you want the BEST dont settle for Patel.
Dr. Patel is awesome and he definitely knows his stuff. Really nice guy. His staff however is less than Pleasant. I have recently started to visit Dr. Patel due to some new medical issues. I’ve had to spend a lot of money on medical bills lately and did not have the money to attend my appointment today. I called on Friday to advise them but could not get anyone to answer the phone so I left a message. I received a phone call today from a girl named Courtney trying to find out why I was not there for my appointment. Advised her that I left a message on Friday and then I would have to reschedule the appointment. she was extremely rude for no reason and was not very understanding even after I advised her that I could not afford the appointment today. I really appreciate Dr. Patel and all of his hard work but his front desk staff need some work
We have found that Dr Patel is invested on our wellbeing. Hes friendly open answers questions and has helped us many times navigating the healthcare system. He gets to the point and tells you what to do and what to expect. Great hepatologist and man
Dr. Patel is a great doctor but someone needs to check on the office staff. No one calls back and at other times when I call they said they will call me back maybe a week later I get a call. May be to late? Called yesterday for refill on medications and asked some questions and the girl answering phone said continue medication until I see him next week. No medications was not sent in. Oh well great way to help the people you are there to take care of.
I like the patient portal. It helps to communicate with the doctor and verify any questions or concerns you have. Dr Patel generally answers within 24 hours.
I saw Dr. Patel for almost two years and the experience was not a good one. Dr. Patel has a positive personality but everything else in the office was a problem.Appointments were never on time and sometimes I waited for 2+ hours. My diagnosis was not accurate. We sought a second opinion at Vanderbilt and after consulting with multiple medical professionals at Vanderbilt my diagnosis has been changed. We have been pursuing adoption which requires medical letters from Dr. Patel. Dr. Patel did not complete our requests in a timely or accurate manner and caused delays in completing our adoption process. Dr. Patel does not respond to messages in the online patient portal.I found that I had to be my own patient advocate as Dr. Patel does not follow through on his own medical plans and misses things during his appointments. Example During an appointment Dr. Patel stated I would receive another immunization at my next appointment. That immunization never happened. After bringing it up at my next appointment Dr. Patel stated I cant believe I missed that.I witnessed people arguing in the lobby on multiple occasions because they had waited so long for their appointments.Dr. Patel does not speak highly of other medical professionals. He stated I hate pathologists after reading my test results disagreeing with the results and giving me a different diagnosis. Take note the doctors at Vanderbilt agree with the initial pathology assessment not Dr. Patels assessment.Additionally the office staff seems to not enjoy being there. Phone calls are not returned and I was not able to pick my own appointment times. At the end of each appointment I was handed a piece of paper with my next appointment time listed with the expectation that I would be able to make any time work without my input. As a family with a young child at home this expectation was not a fit for us as we were being asked to find childcare and rearrange our schedules in ways that were not always realistic for us.After waiting an hour past my last appointment time for an ultrasound only I approached the desk asking how far behind the ultrasound staff was. I was informed that Dr. Patel likes to squeeze patients into the schedule for ultrasounds patients who are only scheduled for office visits leaving the patients with actual ultrasound appointment times waiting in the lobby for HOURS beyond their scheduled time.
4 stars on the doctor. 0 stars on the office staff Rude rude rude.
Dr Patel was extremely nice described my health problems in detail. Office staff was very nice as well.Still going due to health issues are worse. The staff have still been very nice. Dr Patel is stern but honest. He’s trying to help my health so I will be here a little longer.
Dr. Patel has been my doctor for over 7 years. He is warm compassionate and caring. He takes a personal interest in my well being and has helped me get a liver transplant when I needed it at the best facility he knew of. Always responsive to my messages and very knowledgeable with his responses. I trusted my life with him and would refer anyone to him.
They treated me horribly at the end of my help c treatment. Wouldnt even tell me whether or not my hepatitis was gone or not wouldnt even let me talk to my doctor

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
