Dr. Nelson is a life saver. He did emergency surgery on my son on Monday. My son suffers from panic attacks and so much more. Dr. Nelson kept him calm and explained everything, every question we had he made sure to answer. He kept us updated and informed. Couldn't have asked for a better doc to have in an emergency situation. Thanks

Dr. Nelson stepped on and up to the plate behind another Surgeon that left me such a mess . Dr. Nelson stayed with my surgery for 22 hours, making sure he done everything right and not leave me in a situation like Dr J. Dunn. He prayed with me, he is compassionate and very knowledgeable on what he does . Thank you for saving my life!

After months and months of having no doctor listen to me I finally changed all my healthcare options and low and behold Dr. Nelson came on the scene. He listened, he had all the necessary tests done and operated on me. He literally saved my life and I am very grateful. How I wish I'd found him a long time ago, my situation would never have been so dire.

Dr. Nelson is a very excellent Surgeon. In July of 2020 he did Colon surgery on me and saved my life. I high recommend him for a great excellent surgeon. His staff is excellent too.

Dr. Nelson was an impressive piece of my cancer removal and subsequent surgeries to reverse my illiostomy. He has treated me successfully for complications involving bowel odstructions. He is skilled, confident, and has a great bedside manner. Doctors normally don’t have a heart or empathy for what their patients are going through. Doctor Nelson has both!!! His assistant nurse, Megan Arnold is the best. What a great team. I’d recommend Dr. Nelson to my best friends. He is amazing!!!

Dr. Nelson is both an incredible surgeon and a wonderful person. I have Crohn’s disease, and was dealing with excruciating rectal pain. My GI dr brushed it off as nothing, but Dr. Nelson quickly diagnosed me and had me in surgery the next day. He ended up performing 3 surgeries on me within a 6 week period, and he kept me and my family calm, managed and fixed everything perfectly, answered any and every question I had, and cared for me as if I were his own family. He is truly an angel and I am forever grateful for him. Chattanooga is lucky to have such a skilled and compassionate surgeon.

This doctor may have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed today but my experience with him I would not wish on anyone. I have been dealing with severe pain for over a year now and have been told I had a stricture 2 times with 2 different ct scans, I was also hospitalized because I was told I had an obstruction.. in all fairness I have had 2 follow throughs that did not show a stricture.. so granted they may be wrong any or all of the test..But Dr. Nelson insits that they are wrong and he is right and told me that I just need to ignore my pain.. he made me feel like he was saying it was in my head even though he said several times he knew it wasn't. I do not take pain medication but yet he seemed to make me feel as if I am an addicted of some kind. He said it was a habit way of thinking.... I am sick of Doctors not being able to find out what is going on and then blaming you for their short comings.. he spent a total of 10 minutes with me before he was convinced all the other doctors was wrong and he was right.. years of going to school to tell someone to ignore the pain that has cost them a normal life ;) I hope no one else ever has to deal with such lack of compassion from a doctor.

Dr. Nelson is so kind and compassionate. He has amazing bedside manners. I can’t say enough about him. I had been in and out of the hospital for 8 months when I was finally referred to him. He was honest and clear about everything and helped me making an informed decision. I put my trust in him and have no regrets. I am finally on the road to recovery and would recommend him to anyone.
