List of James M Osborn's Reviews
I saw Dr Osborn as a second opinion for lower back pain after having a L5S1 fusion. He wanted records and a recent MRI before I met with him so he knew exactly what the problem was when I walked in the office. I’m now recovering from a 3 level cervicle fusion and no longer have the lower back pain I suffered with for 3 years. Does his bed side manner need work? Absolutely. Is he great at what he does? Without a doubt I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.
Due to my employer based insurance paying 100% of my surgery cost to be done at Emory in Atlanta A well reputable place with great doctors I did not have it done by Dr. Osborn. But that doesn’t mean Dr. Osborn isn’t just as great a Doctor only in Chattanooga. I can’t speak for any first hand experience with Dr. Osborn’s surgical skills for he’s never operated on me. But I will say he is the first doctor in my few years of problems to tell me I have significant cord compression not “mild”. He was the first to offer me lasting treatment. He was the first to name what I have cervical myelopathy. He was the first to hand me literature on my diagnosis surgery he was offering and possible outcomes. The in a rush careless attitude That other reviewers mentioned is nothing of my experience. He took his time explaining and answering my questions on both my visits. His nurse Jessica was quick to return phone calls and emails and set appointments. My limited experience with Doctor Osborn was great. And my girlfriend knows somebody who Dr. Osborn did a 10 level fusion for. That person says he was the first doctor to offer to help her and did great at it.
Well let me start off by saying. Dr Osborn needs a dose of knowing how to talk and to treat people and not to talk down to anyone who is obviously hurting and scared. Its hard to make dr.s understand that they need to put the God act down and pay attention to what your patients are telling you Just always remember karma. Treat people with kindness. Try and understand. We are people just like you. You are no better. Wonder what it would be if the tables were turned? Good luck Cleveland.
Seem sweet and professional when I first meet him and that’s exactly why I was so shocked how I was treated after what happened. He did a lower back fusion and put two more rods in and after about 6 months one of the rods broke. Requested to have rods so we could have them tested but one half of the broken rod disappeared. Long story short he paid my lawyer off and I’ve been left to deal with the pain. Shocked to see he still has his license after all the horror stories I’ve read.
Hi Dr Osborn so do you remember me. That mom of two you left in a mess and paid my lawyer off so you wouldn’t be sued. Well 13 years later and since you wouldn’t see me for my yearly check up to see if the bone was healing and no more broken rods I thought maybe you like to know these rods are holding but every spine doctor that has looked at my back can’t believe what they see and said they’ve never seen a case like it Hope you continue to enjoy your luxury life after my husband I had to drain his 401K just pay our part of the medical bills but you claim I owe you’d you $143 more so that’s why you wouldn’t see for my yearly check. Must be nice to pay off lawyers and go on about your careeer covering things up. It’s ok because God brings to light everything done in darkness and your the one who will have to answer to him. Oh and did you ever find the other half of my rod that you said disappeared form your walk from the operating room to my room in hospital? Just wondering. I do hope you no longer let your patients sit in the ICU with no adequate pain relief. No one should ever have to go through what I went through under your care and pray no one else has.
The worst. Completely missed the infection in my husbands neck and left him in terrible pain for weeks until we could get a second opinion. In the meantime saw my husband again and didnt absolutely nothing for him. When asked about the horrific pain my husbands been in he replied that everyone lived with some kind of pain.
He always takes his time in the room with you and answers all your questions. He also looks out for his patients in the hospital he put you is ICU the first night .
I had a car accident where I was it from behind. Dr. Osborne stated that my neck injury was a PREEXISTING condition. He is not a good source for back up if you have to sue someone for a car accident. He will not help your case Beware of this. Excellent surgeon but will not help with your lawsuit.
March 18 2016 When I met doctor James M. Osborn and his staff I was beyond impressed with my first experience at his office. In only few minutes with him it was easy to see that he is a dedicated and highly qualified spine surgeon.
Dr Osborne performed a posterior cervical fusion on me. It was NOT a success and he just wanted me to go away. At the time he performed the surgery at Erlanger Hospital in Chatanooga TN. I knew something was wrong that my neck was crooked and my balanceequilibrium was off and still is. I just found out this past year that the surgery created scoliosis in my neck. I have no respect for this man and do not consider him an expert. He operated from C2 to T3. I woke up in intensive care with no orders for pain medication. The agony was unbearable. After surgery he never once looked at my neck. He never listened to my concerns. He does not need to be doing cervical posterior surgery. I will never forget that he absolutely crippled my body. This was in 2009. I cannot forget as I live daily with the permanent damage that was done. I wonder now if I ever really needed such an extensive surgery. He made close to a hundred thousand dollars if not more paid out by my blue cross insurance. Quite a motive to perform surgery. At least this has become my opinion.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
