John Bierly Md's Online Review Report Card

Jack Bierly performed my cataract surgery nearly a year ago. I opted for the ultimate package which supposedly gave me "ADVANCED Testing & Analytics ... CUSTOM lens calculations ... Treatment of Astigmatism ... CUSTOM multifocal lenses ... LASER-ASSIST ... Reduced dependence on glasses with functional vision at ALL distances" This package came at a cost of over $7,000. My regular eye doctor was extremely critical of the results, and assured me that Bierly would be receptive to replacing the lens. I was told that there was some kind of "debris" on the capsule that needed to be lasered away, but that it couldn't be done for 90 days. I waited 90 days, had the procedure done, and at that time, I inquired what the next step would be since I saw no improvement. Bierly replied "I guess we could do a lens swap". There was no improvement at all, but NOW ... he says the lens cannot be replaced BECAUSE of the laser procedure. His "assistant" Luckson Previl explained that lens exchanges MUST be done in the first 30-60 days after the surgery. Both of these "doctors" dealt in half-truths and outright lies. After MUCH debate, they offered me a $3195 bribe to just go away. Now, I will need to be back in glasses & contact lenses for the rest of my life ... bear in mind ... I COULD have simply gotten the basic package that involved ZERO out of pocket expense, and would have left me in glasses & contact lenses. I spoke with a representative of the company and expressed my concerns, claiming that was simply not enough to cover my disappointing results. She said she would speak to the doctors and get back to me ... THAT was in late May 2022 ... so far ... NOTHING !!! There are too many reputable eye surgeons around to trust your vision with these quacks & liars. Do yourself a favor, and seek them out.

Made a stressful day much better Very professional and pleasant Wouldn't trust my vision with any other Dr Highly recommend!!!

Staff refuse to send my records to a eye surgeon in Knoxville.

I rating Dr. Bierly for a procedure that he did several years ago. I came to him because I had cataract surgery from another doctor. Many, many problems with my vision and after numerous visits, I finally discovered that my previous doctor had implanted the wrong lens! Unfortunately, the previous doctor and his staff had delayed so long that my lens had implanted. I went to Dr. Bierly, upon recommendation, and he was able to perform a "piggy back" operation, which meant that he placed a second lens over the original lens. My vision was corrected to almost normal (which was better odds than even Dr. Bierly had given me). I was thrilled!

Never get to see Dr. Bierly Before or after the clowns that work for him send you to him, talking about the other Dr.'s they are the most unprofessional people you will ever run into in a Dr. OFFICE, WOULD Not ever recommend Dr. Bierly because of the people he surrounds himself with ,they tell you what you are seeing out of your eyes and if you try to tell them something different they go nuts, just guessing but don't think they learned this behavior at College. Ps: the staff seem to care and are professional.

My husband has had cataract surgery on both eyes recently and cannot say enough good things about him and also his staff. His vision is greatly improved and Dr. Bierly and staff made him aware of the procedure and the aftercare. We are very impressed and would like to recommend him to any one looking for a great ophthalmologist in the Chattanooga area

Not pleased with my cataract surgery in one eye. Was not able to get appointment with him to check to see what is wrong. Would not recommend Dr. Bierly.

Did not see him before surgery. Did not receive any medical advice from him about choosing the type of lens I needed. I was only told there could be halos around lights at night with the lens I chose ( the lens that would correct all vision and no glasses would be needed after surgery). After surgery my close range vision in one eye was blurry and never improved. It has been over six months since my surgery, and my close range vision is worse than before the surgery. I have tried to make an appointment with him to see what the problem is, but was told that he doesn’t see patients except for surgery. I am going to to get an appointment with another opthamologist to see if there is anything that can be done or if I will have to have glasses for reading. I am not pleased with the surgery.
