Did not do a good job on my father-in-law’s hernia. He let a medical student do the repair and he has not been the same. Would not recommend.
The USA group he's part of is wonderful and very caring I would use them again

Dr. Mejia and his staff treated me badly post surgery. Both staff and surgeon show zero compassion whatsoever to their patients post surgery. I would give him zero stars if I could. This is coming from a fellow healthcare professional working in the same hospital. He has horrific bedside manor, does not take accountability for ruining my arm and denying treatment needed in order to show what he damaged in my arm. He likes to give excuses saying he doesn’t know why I’m in pain and no one else he operated on had these issues including entire families that were operated on by him. That’s not a good enough answer and doesn’t solve my PAIN. You NEVER tell a patient that you don’t know something when working in healthcare especially when he is the one that damaged my medial nerve. A neurologist and hand surgeon have both stated that he damaged my arm. The entire staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional including his “nurse” Amanda. I have underwent a second surgery trying to repair the damage that he did to my arm. I underwent nerve blocks recently and am in pain management for the mistakes he made. I am now headed to Vanderbilt for further treatment. Do yourself a favor and go to Vanderbilt for Hidradenitis. He is not a hidradenitis specialist in Chattanooga. I have filed a complaint with insurance and I am not stopping there. University Surgical physicians and their terrible, inept and rude staff will never touch me again. Keep in mind, this was an elective surgery, meaning I chose to have this surgery and did not realize the damage that would be done was far worse than the condition prior to surgery. This is damage is disabling me from using my arm on a daily basis. I could not imagine being a trauma patient under his care. I am still living this nightmare every day, unfortunately.
There was a complication from surgery he did not explain, then abandoned patient.
Mistreated without even becoming a patient, which I guess is lucky considering the staff cannot handle cancelling an appointment, they'll just wait for you to show up to tell you their useless surgeon can't consult on surgery.
I am truly amazed that he is still practicing. My dad minor surgery nearly cost him his life. 5 surgeries this far and still having trouble with blockages from the damage he caused. My dad has been at UT Medical Center since Friday. He lost his job of 30 years and all you could do was LIE in court. The man goes to the bathroom 20 times a day and cant get through a meal or sleep through the night without going. But that isnt a problem?? Sickening. I would never reccomend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
