Stopped husband's meds suddenly My husband was diagnosed with severe anxiety by a doctor at Vanderbilt University Hospital. He was a patient at Cleveland Psychiatric for some time(2 years?). Anyway, he was on a healthy dose of anxiety meds, that was stopped by this clinic. I understand he ran out of meds most months, I guess mental health issues can't really be controlled well. He went to the hospital multiple times, help was never found. This clinic stopped his medicine cold turkey..which is extremely dangerous for benzo meds. My husband list his battle with his anxiety issues and took his life last week. I do not trust this place.
Receptionists are unhelpful and rude. Dr Newman doesn’t listen to your complaints just prescribes medication he wants to. I thought I might actually get some helpful information about complaints but it was obvious he wasn’t interested.
He is the best !!
He refused to address my mental health needs. He decided alcohol alone was my problem, ignoring that I was self medicating.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Newman for ten years & he is the nicest, professional, compassionate, patient, & understanding doctor I have ever seen. I moved an hour away & I still make the drive to see him because he’s better than any doc I could find in Chattanooga. I appreciate him so much & am very thankful for his time & help. I highly recommend him. He & his wonderful staff are the BEST!
I have been a patient of Dr. Newman for one year. My first visit, I felt somewhat apprehensive. I made a few subsequent appointments before deciding to stay with him. I have 20 years of experience with psychiatrists. I am treated for Bipolar 2 and GAD. Having been a patient with a number of psychiatrists, because of relocating, (after having one doctor 8 years), I have found a doctor that I feel I can trust. Our visits take as little or as much time as necessary. He knows the medicines very well, considers my well-being, and respects my feedback.
Dr. Newman fails to return phone calls. Releases patients and ignores further requests by family members.
URGENT: Just another Doctor that only cares about your money! They have a policy if you don't make your first appointment then that's it. I was told and quote (" You costed him money for not showing so we can't help you") I had just started a new job and am fully disabled. Working 12 hours at night from 6:30pm to 7am. It was a very hard change on me since I haven't worked in a long time. I explained to them that I had no phone at the moment, and couldn't call. Plus by the time I got home I had to go to sleep to get back up to go in for work. I offered to pay for the visit that I missed which was ignored because the office manager seemed like she didn't care about me or my issues. Had a oh well, I don't give a ( blank) attitude. Also between all this I'm trying to get my daughter back and seeing her with no sleep here and there, and going to many other doctors appointments things do happen. So you better not have a life if you want to go see him. Anyways I found this to be another Doctor that don't care about you due to the fact that this is for my mental. People die over there mental when it gets into that state of mind due to not getting treated. You would figure they would at least be nice enough to try and save someone's life and get them in, instead of letting there mental health be a risk to themselves. Not even the oath that doctor's take when becoming one means anything now days. It's just so they can make a lot of money off us people so they can have nice things. I'm seeing this more and more unfortunately. And I'm not the first he's let be treated in a bad way. Do your research is all I can say to you and you will see other reviews on different sites as well. Now he's on that list. Have a great day. And I hope you don't get treated this way. God bless.
On. Ehalf of my son, after waiting four weeks to make an appt, this doctor turned us away. He had something else to do. Even tho I explained that the medication was not helping and he was almost out of meds, he sent us to our general practitioner (which we do not have)! We will now have to wait 2-3 months for an appt with someone else. He has absolutely no interest in his patients much less developing a relationship with them. He is in the wrong business.
Primarily I would not recommend Newman because of his staff at the front desk. They hang up on you after they put you on hold. You can hear them smirking about you behind your back. Also communication between patient and Doctor outside of office is extremly difficult to maintain be ause of his staff. Newman is a pleasent one on one individual, though he seems as if he does not care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
