Compassus's Online Review Report Card

I am writing this @ 9:35pm(11/04/24). I lost my Granny, Betty Sue O'Connor on (10/29/24). Due in large part to Compassus' shocking lack of any patient background verifications, family members,next of kin. No red flag systems(meaning again, very basic patient immediate family background) My sister also lost her Granny. My father and uncle lost their mother.My father(her 1st born son and primary care giver since 2002) was notified she died/hospice was caring for her by a 2min call from Compassus, my uncle(her youngest child) was notified by his brother(Dad). As her sons were finding out she had been taken to a different funeral home against her wishes, I reached out to Compassus to get information (when they started care and her condition). I was told I wasn't on their list of names so no information, after naming off her sons and grandchildren(next of kin), they denied us all and told me only Jill O'Connor(her grandchild) and a Susan O'Connor were on this list. Hear me please -Susan O'Connor has ZERO blood relation to my Granny!! She hasn't used our last name for decades. Her name is Susan Fox, Our family was notified (10/29/24), that day she was taken(against her wishes) to a funeral home Susan Fox worked at.On (10/30/24) My father(her son)had to try and get lawyers to enforce Grannys final wishes(to be at a specific funeral home). Before we all could do anything we were notified(late on 10/30/24) Granny suddenly was being moved to the funeral home she wanted to be at(our lawyers stopped at this point) AND her funeral was scheduled for Friday (11/01/24). My uncle and sister both live in California, my uncle(her child!!) made it to bury his mom(My father and I picked him up near 9:10pm@BNA, Halloween night). My sister(her grandchild) couldn't afford to fly on one days notice! We arrived at Betty O'Connor's funeral, her family, her sons she loved since birth and her oldest grandson without his sister(her granddaughter).. Her family surrounded by strangers, Susan Fox and her kin.. Susan's daughter Jill( her Granddaughter). Jill's boyfriend and his family.. dressed for a night at the bar.. strangers who carried my Granny's body alongside her FAMILY that could make it with no notice. 10/29/24 My granny passed away. 11/1/24 One single grandchild and her unrelated mother(using her old married name 20+ years old. Not her current name) threw her in the ground before her real family had any time to do anything! My biggest hope in writing this is that NOBODY ever goes through what we have gone through due to some Company like Compassus deciding my Granny wasn't worth a handful of phone calls or them spending just 1 day notifying all her next of kin( 3 sons! 5 grandchildren!) Compassus shouldn't need my Granny's death or the hell my family has been put through, to tell Compassus one little slip up or mistake is another person like my sister, who will never get to see her Granny again.. Betty Sue O'Connor was the best Mom/Granny/Great Granny the ever was!! She deserved so freakin much better..

We have Hospice for my 97 yr Mom at our home in Columbia. Best care and most compassion of any nurse's I've known. These Folks Really know how to keep your loved ones comfortable and content in their care . Thank you from bottom of my heart.

Unfortunately you had a family friend on your services and you guys give hospice a bad name!

My mom went home to the Lord last month while in care of compassus at home hospice. She had cancer. I cannot say enough how amazing the staff was at helping her through the process and helping our family understand what was happening. I hope that me writing this review. Helps someone else who is going through this very difficult process. I am very confident that she was as comfortable and at peace as she could be. Andrew is a nurse with compassus and he came to her home and checked on her and the family. He sang her favorite hymns to her while he worked. Our family joked that we think it must be a requirement for people to be able to sing to work for this company, we also had a kind tech come with Andrew to give our mom a bath, and they sang in the most perfect harmony together. Jennifer and Antonio were also nurses and they were always available to answer all of our questions and make care adjustments. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a loved one who is ready to cross over.

This review is late but relevant. My Father was at NHS in late December of 2018 with Cancer. We chose Comapassus at the suggestion of MC Oncology. They came to his room and reviewed the services they provided. What he received was nothing like what was described. The nurse came and left in about ten minutes. It was a dose and go visit...never looking at his ongoing chart, looking at his body, (developed sores etc.), talking with staff & as a result he was very uncomfortable. I went to their office and lodged a complaint. That’s when they sent a good senior nurse. This service is either understaffed or undertrained and NO loved one deserves what they did to my father. I do not recommend them at all and you should be very careful if you choose Compassus and watch them constantly.
