The Bridge At Columbia's Online Review Report Card

The bridge of Columbia is a wonderful facility. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by employees that are happy to help, guide and direct. The director, Shannon Clifton, is eager to answer any questions and has a great rapport with the residents and employees! I regularly see him interacting and involved. Definitely a blessing & asset to have there. He made us comfortable while we were considering our best options and left a lasting impression on our family. Each department is led by the sweetest people, Crystal & Christy come to mind immediately. Christy has had an activity each time we have come to visit and the residents praise her efforts. Crystal is knowledgeable in all things and doesn’t skip a beat when asked about residency, help, or facility requirements. 10/10 recommend!

When my mother asked if she could move to Columbia, too, I began researching all the assisted living facilities in this area. Then I drove up and spent a day visiting each, looking and listening for all those intangibles that don't show up in print or pictures--but which can make daily life barely bearable, or actually encourage a life of continued personal growth and meaningful relationships. I found The Bridge at Columbia to be clearly the healthiest and most stable in its facilities, culture, and environment. Now, after two and a half years, my trust in the administrative staff and my appreciation for the support staff have only increased. Many of these people have become MY friends, people I look forward to seeing and talking with. I could not recommend more highly the people at The Bridge and their approach to assisted living. They benefit from, but are not locked into, following a corporate program. They are always (starting with comments and suggestions by residents in their regular feedback meetings) re-evaluating what they offer and how well it meets their current residents' needs. But you should also realize that ultimately, no matter how well thought out the resources and opportunities are, the quality of your loved one's inner life and remaining years will be largely self-determined. Their first day at The Bridge, leaving their apt to go to their first meal in the dining hall, will feel like their first day of junior high school. For most it's a challenge, after several decades, to once again look in the mirror and walk out your door to go meet and be met by strangers. But unlike the kids back in junior high, these strangers are matured by life experiences and generally more motivated to welcome and make new friends. As in any community, what your loved one brings (in personality, values, encouragement, etc.) is needed. THEY are, once again, needed. And within this community, there remains the potential to discover and cultivate relationships that become special.

Beautifully maintained location that provides excellent care for my mother.

I would recommend the bridge to anyone. Putting my mother in assisted living was a very hard thing to do for both of us , but after her being the for 3 years she loves it and so do I. She is very well taken care of . She is happy with the activities they provide and her needs are always met.

I have been amazed at the warmth and efficiency this facility exudes! The staff is pleasant and caring and that is what makes for an outstanding facility. 5 stars for me!

Think twice before sending your loved ones here. As soon as their care starts to become too demanding, they will give you little notice that they cannot return home to their apartment. My father was in skilled nursing at NHC Maury transitional care (horrible place) for 10 days. Director and nurse at the Bridge assessed him and said he needed additional skilled nursing care before he returns back to the Bridge. I paid out of pocket for an additional 2 weeks at Lifecare next door in addition to his rent at the Bridge. When he was ready to be discharged, they said he cannot return because they cannot handle his additional needs. I live out of state and had 4 days to find a memory care place, move part of his belongings into storage, and move him into memory care. No mention to the month prior when he was in skilled nursing that there was a possibility of him not being allowed to return. My dad's neurologist even said they have patients that are worst off then him that are residing at the Bridge. Make sure to advocate for your loved ones because senior care is extremely fraudulent and corrupt industry.
