Skilled surgeon so the rumor goes. BUT is that enough to make up for a very rude and dismissive attitude toward patients and the staff he was working with? I am pretty sure it is not when there are so many options?

No bedside manner and he seemed to be in a rush and no time to answer questions at visit.

Excellent surgeon- skilled and experienced. Answered all our questions, involved my husband in decisions to be made. Could not be more pleased with our selection and highly recommend him. I am a physician and checked with another doc, a nurse practitioner, and a nurse who all recommended him and we sure are glad we followed their recommendations!

Excellent surgeon, has done lots of the type of procedures you would be going to him for. Involves patients in the decisions. Before we selected him, I (a physician myself) checked with another local physician, a nurse practitioner, and a nurse and he got rave reviews for his surgical skills. I had an open ventral hernia repair and everything went 100% as expected. Dr. Gerndt was pleasant and informative on our first visit. The office was very professional, organized, and clean. Surgery was scheduled within a week of my first visit at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. I was in and out the same day. The nursing staff took good care of me. Although I was still a little groggy from surgery I do remember the dr talking to me and asking me if I had any questions. Recovery also went as expected. My post-surgery appointment went well and the dr took plenty of time to answer any questions. I can’t think of one negative aspect of the entire experience. I would definitely recommend this doctor, his staff, and the facility.

I have been going to Dr Gerndt for several years now. I have nothing but highest regards for him. He has performed surgery and other procedures on me. I have recommended him to a couple of my friends. I think he is a wonderful Dr.

Dr Gerndt was right to the point and very thorough. I asked him a question to test him, listened to his answer and then tried to dissuade him. He was adamant and decisive. That is exactly what you want in a surgeon! I didn’t get a second opinion but had the hernia repaired and the results were so much better than years ago. My kids wanted me to have the surgery back in Palm Springs, my winter home but I know I got great care right here in Middle Tenneessee. Dr Gerndt’s “aloofness” is simply him being the best physician. If you need a friend, as the saying goes, then get a dog! He is the quintessential professional. You won’t find more competency somewhere else. Delaney.
