List of Aaron J Porter's Reviews
My father had a terrible experience. Ridiculously long wait time for 1st cataract surgery, 3+ hours in a lobby full of patients. 2nd surgery, extreme pain, wholly different experience than the first. Follow up appointment scheduled same day as surgery at a different location down the road. Dr was still doing surgery at 5pm when my father’s appointment was at 2:30. Multiple patients just walked out including my dad. This Dr needs to take a hard look at his practice and treat patients like he would want his family treated. I recommend more focus on providing exceptional care and less on how many surgeries you can cram into a day.
A distressing situation at Dr. Porter’s Franklin location today. I went for an appointment (8 AM) that was set months ago only to find it had been cancelled. The office staff was unprofessional, unpleasant and not accommodating. Even to the point of running after me after I left to let me know that I was responsible for the situation when the appointment was canceled by them! Did not even do the courtesy of a follow up phone call! I did have cataract surgery with Dr. Porter with success and he is stellar! Unfortunately, my referrals to him will cease and I will find another eye doctor! Stay away from here!
Great Dr
Was very disappointing in Dr. Porter‘s professional service to my eyes. It’s been over six months and they are still not any better. I am now looking into another doctor.
Train wreck. Start to finish. Let me be clear. Dr. Porter himself: Nice, friendly guy. Decent eye doctor, far as I can tell. But his staff is a mixture of borderline incompetency and shortness/rudeness. In some cases both. And I suspect the good Doctor is more or less oblivious to it. Right out of the gate it was impossible to get clear information or straight answers from his young personal assistant who talks in circles. It was like pulling teeth just to find out even the approximate time of my cataract surgery to plan accordingly. His operation is also spread out across three different locations, which amounts to way too many cooks and one hand having no idea what the other's doing. They gave me a disconnected phone number to find out the cost of the anesthesia. They didn't know the cost and wouldn't handle it for me. In the end, I was never able to find out that it cost almost as much as the surgery itself. Then a separate, substantial fee for the surgery center. Only found that out because I thought to ask about any other charges that might surprise me. They then stalled for weeks on filing claims with my insurance. Plenty of excuses as to why, and only filed after full-on pressured to do so. In the lead up to surgery my phone rang off the hook for three straight days (while I'm trying to work and couldn't answer) with a million questions, instructions, and run arounds from different random employees from the three departments. They usually would leave a message asking to be called back. Most of the time when I would they wouldn't know who called or why. Maddening. The real kicker was when somebody attempted to reschedule my surgery time the very night before after I had arranged my entire family's schedule around getting me there at the original time. (Apparently this is common based on another review). As far as lesser evils, Doc clearly overbooks office visits/follow ups ensuring he almost always runs behind. I had to walk out of my last follow up after he did not present 50 minutes after my scheduled time, otherwise all my own clients would be left waiting. They didn't even know why I was there for this last appointment and tried to dilate me in the waiting room when there was no reason to do so. I told them why I had to leave. No apology and they never followed up. I called today to reschedule and the person answering gave me zero confidence that the same thing wouldn't happen again. She didn't seem the slightest bit concerned. Right there I was finally done. Transferring my care. Bottom line? If you're elderly, retired, have all the time in the world to jump through hoops, don't mind all the madness and ensuing headaches, and have Medicare covering it all, then this operation is probably a fit. If you work full time, have a family, a life, respect your own limited time, and will wind up paying much or all of it out of pocket, consider yourself warned.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Porter and his staff. The results from the cataract surgery are amazing! But what is more amazing is the efficiency, professionalism and friendliness of Dr. Porter and his staff, as well as the respect for your time and financial situation. Would definitely recommend!
Dr Porter has made a mess of my eyes. He did cataract surgery plus laser. My eyes were worse after the surgery than before. He tried a couple of different procedures to no avail. It’s as if my eyes had a grinder taken to it and are much worse off than before. I would never recommend Dr Porter to anyone. The only reason I even gave him one star is because I had to put something
Very unaccommodating with scheduling. Changes appointment times and locations at the last minute, and does not provide options for people who work night shifts. Spends so little time at any one location and does not seem to have a unified scheduling system to allow appointments at the location and time that best suits your schedule. Very disappointed with the run-around received from this doctor
In the years since Dr. Porter did cataract surgery, I have had nothing by deterioration and poorer vision than before. Both he and Dr. Kegarise said my cataract was small; but they said I would see better, although I had no real symptoms. Dr Porter never followed up to see why my left eye is blurry. Wrong lens? Then I had a scar on my retina which appeared suddenly after the cataract surgery and required surgery by a retina specialist. My vision is shot; and it all started with Dr. Porter.
Very happy about my cataract surgery

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
