Dr.Sobey treats his patients like numbers. If your early for your appointment then your left to sit possibly 20-30 minutes past your appointment time, but if your 5 minutes late he gets red in the face and angry. Dr.Sobey acts as if his life and time is the only thing that matters. On top of that when I started seeing Dr.Sobey my pain was somewhat managed through my primary care provider. Dr.Sobey immediately tried pushing stimulator surgery on me, which I was totally against due to another family member being parilyzed from a stimulator procedure. All because I didn't want to undergo the procedure Dr.Sobey decided that I was addicted to opioids and tried prescribing an alternate more dangerous and addictive drug to help with my pain. I took this drug for a couple months. This medication did not at all help with my pain if anything it made my pain a whole lot worse landing me in the hospital. When I followed up with him. His response was that I have pyschological problems, and once again tried talking me into the stimulator procedure for my lower back injury. I politely declined and asked to be released from his care. My current pain management physician told me that I was lucky not to have had the stimulator Implant bc the risks far exceed the reward, and that they are very dangerous. Dr.Sobey stated that the procedure was completely safe and could be reversed if needed. I've read review after review of people being permanently parlilyzed or with severe nerve damage after undergoing these stimulator implants. This all happened well over a two years ago and my current pain management physician explained that allot of Dr's push these stimulator implants bc they receive kick backs from the medical device companies for using there equipment. My advice to you if your reading this is to stay away from this quack and find a Dr with good bedside manner and that truly cares about your well being more than his wallet.
