Daniel Kalb Md's Online Review Report Card

I contacted Dr. Kalb’s office last year to see about getting a consultation to ask if it was safe for me to take herbs for my tick borne diseases with me also having a right parieto occipital srter malformation. Then I also wanted to ask which herbs I could try for the tick borne diseases and I also want to know what dosages of herbs that I should try. I was told that a consultation would cost $450 and it required a $100 or $150 non refundable deposit. I am on SSI so I do not have that amount of extra funds. I took out a loan for other reasons and I had the $450. I called the office and asked if I could pay the full amount up front and they said yes so that the loan money would not sit in my account and be counted as income. I then proceeded to purchase some herbs and started taking them. I started to bruise badly. Then I remembered being told by my neurosurgeon that bruising easily is a sign that something could be happening with my avm. I called my neurosurgeon and my cardiologist. I was able to get an appointment with my cardiologist but it was on the same day as my proposed appointment with Dr. Kalb was. I called and canceled the appointment with Dr. Kalb. I then found out through some of my other providers and someone with Dr. Rawl’s office that herbs can thin the blood. I was warned by my neurosurgeon that I can not take anything that thins or thickens the blood due to my avm. I called the office several times and asked if I could have a partial refund since I was not to take any herbs due to my avm. I also left several messages asking about a partial refund. I was never told why I could not have a partial refund.

So thankful for Dr. Kalb and his staff they have helped me so much over the past 12 years!

I've searched for 12 years for a doctor who will: a) listen, and b) help. So very grateful to have found Dr. Kalb.

Money hungry office. Very expensive for office visits as insurance is not accepted. He also gets a large kickback on the supplements he tells you to take. I was doubled up on many herbs and vitamins and when I asked about it I was told I could adjust any of them as I wanted. I was also told I did not need a probiotic for my stomach issues to which no other doctor I’ve met would ever agree to. For Rx meds I could never get refills. The last 2 I asked for 3 weeks and my pharmacy requested all with no response. I’ve been charged for things sometimes but not at other times, and when questioned an office staff person said “sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn’t”. Messages through the portal are not quickly responded to and responses are typically 1 sentence and not covering all questions or concerns. Any messages left on voicemail have never been returned. Many of us go to him with complicated health history’s, and this is not the attentiveness or care that should be expected.

I wasn't totally sold on the Bone and Joint Institute in Franklin at first... then I met Dr.Zachary Kalb. He's the group's physiatrist and an serious expert in epidural spinal injections and other injections that help folks like me avoid surgery. My spinal injections took me from horrifying numbness in my legs to something that's manageable--and pain basically free. When I first met Dr. Kalb, I had difficulty walking--now, I'm walking at a brisk pace and jogging on the treadmill for 60-70 minutes every single day! Dr. K also hooked me up with one of their physical therapists who was absolutely wonderful! I've been to PT at Star and PT at St. Thomas and neither did any more for me than I could figure out myself by watching a couple YouTube videos. The PT at Bone and Joint worked on me AND, more importantly, have taught me how to start helping myself. They offered me an opportunity to take an active role in my health care, effectively making me a partner in my own recovery. Gotta say, I recommend the B&J Inst. wholeheartedly, especially because of Dr. Kalb and their Physical Therapy floor (yes! they have an entire floor dedicated to PT!). Check them out--you won't be sorry!

I want to thank this doctor for being so brave and going against the grain. This doctor has put EVERYTHING on the line to actually help children and adults. If you think that's easy your wrong. It takes alot of courage and facing opposition to tell the TRUTH. To hear the TRUTH and be receptive to it. Thank you for doing what is right. Thank you for actually listening. Thank you for being a good doctor. Thank you for actually caring about your patients. This mom is forever grateful that doing the next right thing still exists.

By all means, adhere to debunked medical studies.

Dr. Kalb is saving my life and I thank God for him every day. I was misdiagnosed for 15 years, and he found 14 different diseases that I had never been tested for. I’m so glad I found him when I did. I had been diagnosed with MS right before, and I am 26!!! My neurological symptoms became so bad that I was twitching uncontrollably and having absence seizures. Anyway I could go on for days, but he is the best. Answers all my questions. Has a patient portal and responds sometimes within a couple hours. He takes the time to develop treatment plans. Also they have 2 little dogs that come into your room sometimes. They are just the best. The front office staff is really sweet and unlike the other comments, I’ve never had an issue with them. I was honestly shocked! I have nothing but good things to say. Edit: this edit is coming 1.5 years after my first appointment and have been treating with Dr. Kalb this entire time. He continues to be amazing. I was diagnosed with Lyme, Babesia and equivocal for Tularemia. I can trace my symptoms back to my very first memories. In 2012 I went downhill and developed severe neurological and psychological issues from the diseases. Essentially I had all the symptoms of MS. After treating this long, I’m happy to say my MS symptoms have been wiped away almost completely. I still have sciatica, but I no longer look like I just smoked a pound of spice. I used to get so much attention in public bc of how obvious my neuro symptoms were and how awkward my movements and gait were. This is HUGE for me as the neuro issues were incredibly painful, unlike any pain I can describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it themselves. My psych issues improved dramatically to the point where I am now weening off all the psych meds doctors had prescribed to me before and having no issues doing it. My gut is also completely healed after a decade of crippling gut issues (diagnosed as IBS, gerd and ulcers). Dr. Kalb cares deeply and his detailed treatment plans are what has brought me so much healing. I still have a long way to go, having suffered with this infections for decades without being diagnosed, but I feel confident that I am on the path to complete healing and can’t recommend him enough for people who are suspicious that there may be something connecting their many, many medical issues.

Doc doesn’t do prior authorizations for insurance, so you are basically on your own. He talks about his care for patients, but won’t do this?? Come on man.... Also gets a significant kickback from the supplements he recommends to you. It is spelled out in the paper you sign after you pay his insane fee. You have been warned.
