Adam and Keith, who are Siloam Health Institute, take appointments in the Rejunvation Group office in Brentwood on Seven Springs Way. The office is all fancy and remodeled... like my dream condo... Anyway, Siloam participated in the QponDay Groupon-like program, and I purchased both the massage and acupuncture coupons. (Or Qpons, rather.) I have yet to cash in my massage deal, but I took advantage of my acupuncture deal yesterday. I was brand spanking new to acupuncture, though I've received several related therapies such as massage and different idioms of energy healing. I really didn't know what to expect, except for what I've seen in movies and pictures - needles, lit on fire, sticking out of the body. That wasn't exactly what Keith used during the session, but the session did include very tiny needles used to open up meridian points in my body. And he did light a few other things on fire. I think Keith's a badass. Maybe it's just me, but I found it somewhat amusing for my acupuncturist, my very well versed and educated acupuncturist, to be a young-ish white guy instead of an elderly Asian man. Don't let this lead you into thinking it'll be a less than authentic experience. Keith was extremely attentive to issues I expressed, and was thorough and accurate in his "diagnoses". I know about the acupuncture clinic in town with a "pay what you can" policy, and that folks receive acupuncture in a communal room, but there is something about the one on one-ness that I don't find I'm tempted to stray from regardless of the cost. At Siloam it's $280 for a package of four private acupuncture sessions (plus a free reflexology session! Yahoo!). I can dig it. Oh by the way, here's a first-hand account of what I experienced emotionally and physically from the acupuncture... yes, once the first needle was put in my back, I started laughing uncontrollably! After the session, the knot that's been in my back for over a week did hurt less. Then later as I navigated the internet, I became ANGRY! Then late in the evening, I suddenly cried and cried and cried about an issue (personal!) that's been difficult to deal with on the surface. And then I felt a LOT better. I think the acupuncture was successful!!
