Rudest doctor ever! I came in for a check up because I was having some symptoms that go along with pre-eclampsia. I was telling her my symptoms and before I could even finish, she smirked and laughed. She said, "please don't tell me you think you have pre-eclampsia, you haven't gained enough weight for that!" I felt two feet tall and stupid. But what do you know, I ended up going into labor early, actually did have pre-eclampsia, had to be hospitalized when my baby was only four days old, pre-eclampsia turned into eclampsia. I was right.
Dr nims was my OBGYN through all 3 of my daughter's, and performed my TL. I will agree that she does tend to have a less than heartwarming approach... But she was a GREAT doctor, she looked out for my children and my own best interest, my c section scars look like 1 not 3... And honestly, after my first child, and returning to her practice with my 2nd pregnancy she was a lot friendlier and laid back. She's good at her job. She's also human. Maybe she needs her time before she just starts smiling in your faces. Give the woman a break. Thank you DR NIMS for your phenomenal care for so many years.
Dr. Nims lacked compassion and professionalism during my appointment with her. She did not care to hear my questions and instead kept talking over me. It was as if she was reading a textbook. Terrible, terrible experience.
I have postpartum depression because of the birth experience she gave me. She really needs to re-educate herself on how things have changed in the labor and delivery field. Maybe consider going into a different career too considering she had a bad attitude and was being snippy with the nurses. I dont have enough characters to type out all the things that happened that are devastating to me that ruined the experience of delivering my first baby.

I agree with Sarah's review above 100%. I would give 5 stars for Dr. Nims' nurse, but alas this review is not about her. I have been to several OBGYNs in the area and this was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor in my life. Usually, I like to express my dissatisfaction to an establishment before writing a review. However, Dr. Nims never gave me the chance, because she was in such a rush to get me out of her office. My appointment was at 10:00 a.m. and I was a new patient, so I arrived 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork. After filling it out I sat in the waiting room for a few minutes until her nurse called me back to weigh me, take vitals, etc. It should be noted that I was the only person in the waiting room. Although, I knew other patients were in their own exam rooms because I could hear them talking, the walls are rather thin. I have a 45 minute rule when waiting for appointments, but Nims is the only OBGYN in Franklin that takes my insurance and I really didn't want to drive to Nashville. That is the only thing I'll give her, she takes a wide variety of insurances. At 11:32 am she walks in. She apologized for running behind. I get it, we all have hectic mornings and things begin to get behind schedule. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. It should also be noted that I went to another doctor before her that I loved but she does not take my insurance. Dr. Nims talked smack about this doctor, rolling her eyes and calling the Women's group of Franklin "snooty." As Sarah explains above, I expressed that birth control pills are not for me and I'd prefer an implant, shot, or IUD. She was totally against it. Perhaps she is compensated more by pharmaceutical companies for prescribing pills, but hopefully that's not her reasoning. I am about to walk 3,000 miles with my partner and we do not want to have to carry birth control while we are hiking for 6 months. Dr. Nims said she understood this but still pushed for the pills. I kept trying to steer the conversation away from pills, stating several times that wasn't the route for me. I kept asking questions about IUDs and in the middle of my question she got up to yell out of the door to call for her nurse, pretty much ending our conversation. During my pap, she told me I was about to begin ovulating and I should "be careful" during intercourse over the next couple of days. Sound advice, I thought. She then added, "make sure you use those condoms right," then raising her voice to exclaim, "and not just at the end!" This was my last straw, being talked down to during an already uncomfortable situation is a sure fire way to make someone feel the lowest of the low. I tried to hide my tears at this point. After my pap, I was going to ask several more questions about birth control and other concerns I had about my body but I had already been cut off several times because she was so rushed. I felt like I deserved a few minutes of her time after waiting for almost 2 hours. She needs manage her time better. She spent 14 minutes in that room with me.As she was walking out she had her hand on the door handle and said briskly, "Okay, any more questions?" I had many more, but I could tell her question wasn't sincere.I barely got a word in because she kept cutting me off and telling me what I should do with my body. Instead of listening and talking with me about what I wanted, she talked at me. She told me if I wanted pills I didn't have to worry about coming back, just to call and she would prescribe them over the phone. God forbid I take up anymore of her time. I am a strong woman and am not offended easily. Dr. Nims made me feel uncomfortable and fragile. No one gets to treat me this way and not hear about it. Women should be able to go to Doctors and feel at ease and able to speak freely. Women and their OBGYNs should be on the same page. I should feel relieved and well taken care of when I walk out of a Doctor's office. I would call to express my concerns but I doubt she could make the time for it and the last thing I want to do is to make her nurse feel as though she fell short, because she did not. Hopefully, Dr. Nims will read this and reevaluate her practice and outlook on life. If not, I hope that other women find an OBGYN that will exceed your expectations. Dr. Nims is not this doctor.
We are having our first baby and are both very new to the whole experience. We have done our research accepted help and advice from both sides of our family, but at the end of the day it's your doctor that should be offering the guidance and direction that you need during this 9 month period. After all, it is your monthly insurance payment that is paying their wage. If you are new to the experience of pregnancy and do not already have a family doctor to see, I do not recommend seeing Dr. Nims.(I do not recommend seeing her at all whether it's your first baby or not but I'm trying to be fair to our situation here.) She is very impersonal and seemingly just going through the motions that she's supposed to go through. Pretty sure the only reason she really remembers my name is because I tell the nurse who I am as I walk in for each appointment and the nurse hands her my files. Which is okay to an extent, I understand that the medical field is a busy stressful occupation and I do not expect perfection. But what put me over the edge is her condescending rude approach towards concerns I had. I was having more intense pregnancy symptoms than what had occurred previously(I am 5 months now) and simply wanted to check in with her to make sure all was well. She was a half hour late for the appointment which is understandable, but has happened often. The nurse was great. She took me in and showed me the baby's heart was strong and healthy and reassured me on that end. When I finally did see Dr. Nims to talk about the symptoms it was as if I was not being heard and that I was wasting her time. When trying to explain the severity of the stomach pains I had been feeling I was cut off each time, being told it's called being pregnant. Did not have any questions about my symptoms, did not have any advice on how to deal with them, did not offer any guidance or even any concern into the matter. Never even gave me the chance to fully explain what was going on before the interruptions and obvious agitation. I expressed to her that I did not feel I was being heard, which agitated her further and caused her to raise her voice. I decided I was done at that point and was beginning to grab my things to leave when she told me that I am not to leave and if I do I am to find a new doctor, which at that point was no problem to me and I preceded to leave. Our next appointment was for our gender reveal, which is in a separate office and is a separate procedure that Dr Nims has no part in. Come to find out, Dr Nims had taken the liberty to cancel that appointment for us which feels very malicious at this point. The point being, whether this is your first pregnancy or not the bottom line is that this is a very special time of your life, and the doctor you are seeing should not take away from this. I am only thankful that the true colors were revealed at this stage and this doctor will not be the one to help bring our baby into this world. I not only advice that you do not see Dr Nims, but all of you that are new to this experience like we are, that you please do your research in finding the right doctor because they truly do make a difference to this whole experience.
I have never in my life gone in to see a doctor (visibly upset), and been lectured about how I needed to "be quit" until she was done speaking. I was upset due to certain symotoms with my (first) pregnancy that caused me to have to leave work I was so worried. Ater being intrerupted by the doctor 3x with what she wanted to talk about I finally got really upset and tried to explain that I did not think she was listening to me at all. She then got really angry, and when I tried to leave by saying we needed to take a break she exclaimed" if you walk out then you just need to find another doctor". I don't really care what is going on, but if you have a 1)pregnant 2) scared 3) PATIENT in your office, you really should not treat them the way she treated me that day. Also, every appointment that I had with her I was getting more information and time with the nurse than anyone else. I got very little from Dr. Nims, and wanted anyone questioning if she gave a good experience or not to know that as well.
I'm more than impressed with the professionalism and care provided. Dr. Nims is educated, knowledgeable, and precise. She ensured I left with all questions answered and that the best care was given. Additionally, Flora and Sharon are wonderful. I appreciate their kind, approachable, and helpful disposition. A Quality and professional practice!
I went to Dr. Nims when I was pregnant in 2012. She neglected to ever discuss a birth plan with me during my entire pregnancy. When I brought up discussing how my son would be born she completely pushed my concerns aside and avoided the question. So by 39 weeks and 5 days, I am at what I would imagine is going to be my last appointment until my water breaks and I go into labor naturally. Dr. Nims tells me during this appointment that she would like me to come in on the following Monday, 40 weeks & 2 days, to be induced. I let her know that I would like to go into labor naturally and deliver naturally as well. She goes on to tell me that was a good day for her because "I will be here all day." I immediately thought to myself..My childs birth isnt on a schedule?...He comes when he is ready and thats how babies have been born for centuries. She then goes on to tell me during this appointment that my son was measuring small. At 39 weeks and 4 days we are just now concerned he may be measuring small? She says yes. I said so you think he may have IUGR? (a growth restriction where the baby isnt getting enough nutrients to grow at a normal rate, which can be a very big concern) She says well thats a possibility? So at literally 40 weeks we are all of a sudden concerned my child isnt growing properly and I should be induced to save his life? She then mentions before I storm out that if I choose to leave her office without scheduling my induction on the following monday that I should hold myself accountable if something were to happen to my son. Basically if he dies its my fault not hers bc she "warned me." No. just no. I had a healthy pregnancy the entire time and was going to have a healthy baby as naturally as medically possible. So when my water broke that night at around 1 am. I did not call my Dr. I did things my way. Went to the hospital at about 2 pm the next day. Requested/Insisted that I have whatever Dr was on call that day and it just so happened to be Dr. Sizemore. This man stayed the entire night while I was in active labor and let me birth my child how I WANTED TOO! He wasnt even scheduled to work the overnight shift. He saved my labor and allowed me to end this nightmare with a pleasant experience and healthy 6lb 11 oz baby boy!!! I cannot thank him enough and to this day I still dont think he knows how much I appreciate his kindness. So all in all if you love being pumped with drugs and scheduling unnecessary inductions where your C-section rate goes up to about 1 out of every 3 women then I recommend Dr. Nims. If you want a loving and patient Dr. who truly cares about the wishes of his patients I suggest Dr. Sizemore!!
