Dr Ulm and his great staff are the best ever…I would drive across country, if I needed to, to get to him.

Dr. Ulm is the BEST neurosurgeon in the State !! His bedside manner is excellent, He has performed 2 spinal surgeries on myself and 2 brain surgeries on my sister for GBM. I highly recommend Dr. Ulm for all your neurosurgical issues!!!

My brain aneurysm was the scariest thing I have ever had to go thru BUT God blessed me with the best Neurologist and his team! 5yrs later, I have been released! I'm eternally grateful for Nashville Neurosurgery Associates!! Thank y'all so much!!

After seeing the NP twice, I did get an appointment to see Dr Ulm for his opinion on treatment. The NP said it would take a fusion but the Dr. made the final decision on treatment. My appointment was at 2:30, and I was there at around 2:20 or so. I checked in using the kiosk and sat down. There was no one behind the desk to greet anyone or to confirm I was checked in. The room was busy and several other people came in after me. Still no one behind the desk. When the other patients went to check in, the kiosk would not verify their appointment. When the NP came to get a patient, one of the other patients said to her that she could not check in. The NP said she would take care of it. This happened twice. I waited for 1 hour past my appointment time with no one even acknowledging I was there. The 2 people that arrived later than me, with an appointment I assume was after mine, got in to see the Dr. I completed the internal review they sent out with basically the same comments and I have not even heard from them. Not even an apology or a communication to find out if I want another appointment. I know people that want to work are hard to find and I also realize things fall through the cracks. Back surgery is scary to begin with. I think you have to have confidence in the team doing the surgery. The only gauge I feel I have is with the interaction of the staff before surgery. The Dr. may be a fine surgeon and his staff may be the best. But I feel they failed horribly at the basics of being professional on the day of my appointment.

Dr. Ulm and PA, Darice Spackman honestly saved my life. I had an extremely large brain tumor and they rushed my surgery to remove it. They were informative and spent a lot of time with my husband and I explaining the procedure and the outcomes both good and bad of it. When it came time for surgery, Darice came in to talk again at pre-registration to see if I had any questions or concerns. Much of it is a fog after pre-reg, I remember seeing them in the operating room and they kept my family up-to-date every hour during surgery, which they were extremely grateful for. I am grateful that I came out of the surgery with no side effects that required any form of Physical Therapy. I was completely blessed by this and thank God everyday for sending me to this office and having them as my Surgical Doctors. Everyone was nice from the doctors at the facility, the PA's and the office staff. I would highly recommend Dr. Ulm, PA Darice Spackman and his staff! I am completely thankful!

My mother had a major surgery on her back and Dr ulm and his office have been top notch they even are coming to her house today for pain management they treat you with compassion and get to know each patient. They don't just have to look up your chart they personally know each pts needs. I felt at ease during my mother's procedure even though I am 500 Miles away

I have had lower backpain for 4 years. I was very disappointed at my last visit with Dr Ulm. I expected EMG report on my back. They didnt test my back nerves, only my legs. The Dr asked me to show him where my pain was, then his phone rang and he excused himself. He came back and said I needed a back brace and left to have the nurse start insur. Procedure to get one. He never came back. I had some questions. I know they are busy but i sure feel gaslighted! No one will address the pain I have. One nurse said my pain didnt match her dermatone map, she is the one who decided I need an emg on my legs, not my back. Ive read many good reviews on Dr Ulm and maybe if he had stayed with me to complete my appointment I would have something great to say.

Cannot say better things about Dr Ulm and his staff. They always listened to everything I said even though I know I talked their heads off at every appointment. I trust them with my health and I am where I am today because they're the best. Thank you.

From the first visit to the last everything has been wonderful. Dr. Ulm and his staff took great care of me. Becky and Ronnie always explained things well if I had any questions. Dr. Ulm explained everything so well after getting my MRI. Thank you for taking great care of me. I will send anyone that says they have back pain to him.

Oh my goodness…. Where to start!!! My sister had back surgery by Dr. Ulm. After that we never saw him again even though he kept her coming back every three months for a year. The hospital, Skyline in Nashville, was horrific. I wouldn’t take my pet to that hospital. It was unfathomable how negligent they were. I contacted Dr. Ulm about the horrible treatment my sister received and he did nothing even though he sent us there! Dr. Ulm had my sister getting Cat scan X rays every three months which was extremely excessive and unnecessary knowing she had had breast cancer and she didn’t need that much radiation. After her surgery we never saw him even though we went back every few months. It was as if he was DONE with us after he did the surgery. His office failed to give us much needed information about her spine being pinched above and below the surgery place. It took a different specialist to tell us. Ulm said she’d be better in three months. A year later she’s STILL having horrific pain and walks worse now than before the surgery. I’m so disappointed in Ulm. I thought he’d have a better bed side manner and take better care of her. I had considered having him do my surgery. NOW…. AFTER SIS’S NIGHTMARE…. THERE IS NO WAY I’D TRUST HIM TO DO ANYTHING ON ME!!!! I have recently found out that a back Doctor in Louisville, Dr, Jeff Gum, comes highly recommended and I’m going to try to get in to see him. If you’re looking for a good bed side manner AFTER THE SURGERY I do NOT recommend Dr. Ulm. He never saw us after sis’s surgery even though HE KNEW she was having so much trouble. I just have no more confidence in him to do what’s best for the patient. He seems more interested in doing what’s best for his wallet!
