List of Robert Mericle's Reviews
After my surgery i have never been able walk again or use my left hand. My sight and hearing finally came back. The Hospital was the worst I've seen. I still can not eat solid foods, can not swallow. My life went from really bad to worse. Im so dizzy i cant work and am financially ruined. After the surgery they don't seem to care. I recently had another MRI done. Having not heard a word. Now i wished i had gone to another surgeon and a different hospital., but they got their money! Looks like disability for the rest of my life. Hope they are enjoying walking around and eating solid foods. Wished I would have died during surgery frankly.
Dr. Mericle has been treating me for an unruptured cerebral aneurysm for the past 16 years. He is thorough and explains everything to myself and my family. I recently underwent surgery to repair the aneurysm. He is the compassionate, kind and cares about his patients. I can't imagine having to see someone else. He gets 5 stars and beyond from me!
I have been a patient of Dr. Mericle's for the past 16 years. He explains everything and has a great bedside manner. He repaired an unruptured brain aneurysm and he saved my life. He and his staff are wonderful.
VERY DISAPPOINTING I did a virtual visit consult for TN. I wanted MVD surgery. I waited to 2 weeks for virtual visit and the PA only spent 5 minutes with me and said that Dr. Mericle would call back later in day. He did call but started conversation with "here are 5 reasons why DVM surgery is not for you." I am 21 with TN classic symptoms & L side hemi facial spams. I felt not listened to because of my age, gender and the fact I have Ehlers-Danlos hypermobility, a history of migraines ( completely managed). He said my dose of gabapentin pain meds were highest he has seen, and I explained i was in so much pain, meds used to work but now I need higher dose and I had reaction to other meds. He said, "that is a bummer" REALLY? I waited 2 weeks with the expectation of talking with very highly regarded doctor. He said a young person's MRI would show compression clearly. (NOT TRUE) I am bedridden, can't brush my teeth and can only have liquids because any eating spurs an episode of shocks.
Dr Mericle is the best. He did my mvd in March 2023. I am still healing but no PAIN. I could never thank Dr. Mericle enough. His name says it all he did a miracle for me .
My experience with Dr miracle was wonderful I had suffered 21 years with trigeminal neuralgia and with four short hours of surgery my pain is gone I could never thank him enough. With the help of the good Lord Dr miracle performed a miracle on me thank you so much Dr miracle
Dr Miracle preformed surgery for Trigeminal neuralgia on me 11 years ago wow what a disaster …….I had so much to go wrong. It’s to long to write so I will just say think about it long and hard. I made a appointment with him a few months ago and he would not come in to see me and I plainly told them when I made the appointment that I wanted to see him. Now I have24/7 pain if I’m awake I’m in pain. I have Anesthesia dolorosa and it is Constant pain
Dr. Mericle performed MVD for my Trigeminal neuralgia in 2008. Every possible step taken, from initial consult to discharge from the hospital was unbelievably perfect. He was wonderful, clearly explaining the procedure and what to expect. I’m pain free still, today and I owe my life to him.
This is an update since Dr. Robert Mericle performed a Microvascular Decompression on my trigeminal nerve in 2017. I am still 100% pain free and medication free since the successful MVD for Classic Trigeminal Neuralgia. I researched most of the neurosurgeons east of the Mississippi River in order to find the most experience with treating trigeminal neuralgia. He was actually 98% more experienced than his peers treating this rare condition according the Healthgrades which is unbiased. I didn't want the best neurosurgeon in the world. I wanted the most experienced neurosurgeon when it came to this rare condition. I am so happy my research brought me to his office. He has performed thousands of Microvascular Decompressions (MVD). My MRI showed clear. He found and repaired 3 compressions He knew by my symptoms they would be there. That's something only experience can do. My incision was only 1 1/2" as well. I can't say about how good my experience has been. I was 70.
If you are seeking MVD for TN, I strongly suggest you find another doctor. Dr. Mericle was not honest with me regarding possible negative effects of the surgery, which I questioned him about many times, so that I could make an informed decision before proceeding. He basically said that the only thing was a 1 to 2 percent chance of numbness. He performed the surgery 2 years ago this month. I woke myself from the anesthesia, screaming in pain, was given meds and told it would go away. He never visited me or my family after the surgery, he knew what he did to me. I have Anesthesia Dolorosa, painful numbness. Research it as much as you can. My skin on the right side of my face, mouth, nose and eyes, and much of my head is numb to the touch, but below the surface, it feels like a bed of hot coals. It never goes away, even for an instant, and it gets worse over time. I got a corneal abrasion from scratching my eye in my sleep, that has taken over a year to heal as much as it is going to, and I nearly lost my sight. I had a fall, fracturing 3 lumbar vertebrae, can only stand or walk for a short time before the pain causes me to have to sit or lie down. I lost 50 pounds in about 3 months, because of choking when I eat. I itch a lot on that side, but scratching does not help, drives me crazy. This is incurable, a life sentence of horrible misery, very little sleep (the only relief I get). If that's not bad enough, over the last 2 months, I have developed TN again and there is nothing I can do about it. Just be informed before having the procedure and get another doctor. There are some honest doctors out there.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
