List of Phil Hammond's Reviews
Dr Hammond is the best optometrist I have ever seen and I would never go anywhere else so long as he continues to practice
I have moved around quite a bit and have been to many optometrists all over the country; Dr. Phillip R Hammond's office provided me with the BEST care I have ever experienced. I see better now than I have since before I needed a prescription!Calling for an appointment was easy and the receptionists were genteel and informative - plus there was free coffee! (Thank you for the coffee). They accepted my Humana vision insurance and were always quick to inform me of any extra costs I could incur or savings for which I was eligible. Dr. Hammond and his assistants were wonderful! Friendly, obviously caring, thorough, and competent. Dr. Hammond was especially good at not just making me feel comfortable, but also confident. In the end, my prescription for both my glasses and my contacts were a tad better than 20/20. I was actually distracted driving home by the detail I could see in distant foliage. My follow-up was just as easy and informative. The receptionists explained a rebate for the year supply of contact lenses I purchased, and I was able to get back $55. I appreciate the great service and sincere care I received from the entire Hermitage Eye Care team. I highly recommend them!
Rude and cancelled my scheduled appointment on me after showing up for it. The receptionist was nice and after arriving only 9 minutes late for my scheduled appointment, I was told by the receptionist to take a seat and given a couple signature pages (HIPAA), which took all of 20 seconds to complete, and 5 minutes later a skinny lady with glasses walked out in a white coat and was acting all irritated and flustered about some work stuff. A few minutes later, I heard her ask in flustered voice to the receptionist "So who's this? We don't have time for anyone else today, we have 2 patients that called today so we don't have time for him." A few huffs and puffs later (sad, some people can't handle their jobs without getting irritated in front of customers), the lady with glasses in a white lab coat called my name out loud from across the room and said in a callous voice "You are over 15 minutes late for you appointment and we are going to have to cancel you for today." No discussion, no introduction, no apology, no explanation...just an abrupt statement matter of fact. Naturally, I was confused as never in my entire life have I had a office cancel my appointment for arriving a few minutes late...so I politely explained that I was there before she walked in the room and was not 15 minutes late, only 9 at most, and unsure how a few minutes could be so devastating to Dr. Hammond's day and let alone constitute her abrasiveness towards me. She rolled her eyes at me and said "you haven't even filled out your paperwork and are half way through your appointment so you will have to leave and call back and reschedule because we are busy today." I was taken aback by the rudeness and said "No thank you, I'll go somewhere else who will grateful for my business, I don't want to reschedule." I handed my completed paperwork to the receptionist and the other lady who was doing all of the talking just rolled her eyes again and ignored me without responding...now, here's the funny part. Only 200 feet away I pulled into the Walmart Eye Care Center and asked if they had a walk-in appointment and the receptionist said "Absolutely! Take a seat!" Within 30 seconds the doctor herself came out to greet me in-person. I had my contact lens and glasses prescription within the hour from Dr. Lisa Davis across the street, a walking distance from Hermitage Eye Center who didn't show the slightest interest in my business. Plus they were cheaper and more accommodating...I think I'll pass on Hermitage Eye Care. I don't appreciate being treated rude and their staff treating me like my business is not valued...very disappointing experience.
Dr. Hammond and his staff were so kind and attentive. I felt extremely comfortable and knowledgeable about my own eye health and the path that I am on. I left feeling confident and well taken care of!
Very Professional, top notch eye care. won't find anyone better in Nashville
I have been a patient as well as my family for more than 5 years. He has always been courteous, helpful and spends time with you. You don't feel rushed and he will explain your options, findings etc..I recently tried contacts and he did not give up trying to help me find a brand that would work for mono vision. The office staff are great as well and patient with some of us who have trouble making a decision.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
