I had such a wonderful experience today. I was nervous going in due to covid. Dr Gates and his staff were professional and took all the necessary precautions to keep his patients as safe as possible. I immediately could see that and felt very comfortable shortly after I arrived. I could not have been more pleased with my visit.

Cataract surgery by Dr. Gates was a the closest thing to a medical miracle that I will ever see. The vision in my right eye was defective for 60 years. After cataract surgery with a torci lens inserted, it is now 20 - 15. Process was silky smooth from start to finish.

After trial and error and difficulty wearing contacts with a previous eye doctor due to dry eye I came in hopes of new ideas or discussion of possible LASIK. Dr. Gates gave neither. He said I could never wear contacts and not a candidate for LASIK. All he told me to do was take fish oil, do warm compresses, over the counter drops for dry eye and wear glasses. I've been seeing Dr Gates for several years. I'm diabetic, so mostly he's been monitoring my eyes for signs of diabetic retinopathy. However, a couple of years ago he noticed a slow-growing cataract on both eyes. Again, he monitored the condition. Then at one appointment he asked to see me in six months instead of a year. At that next appointment he asked when I wanted to schedule my surgery. It went VERY smoothly. Through it all he was kind and compassionate, explaining everything so I understood exactly what was going on. He's a terrific doctor.

This doctor 's demeanor was bordering on rude. During my first visit he treated me as though I were stupid. On the second visit he was no more than perfunctory. On the third visit he seriously affronted my sensibilities with his curt, abrupt, and demeaning attitude. I will NOT return to this practice.
