A very good Doctor, but I was suppose to be seeing him this year. I called to verify my appointment and guess what? He has retired, no call , no letter nothing. Shows he didn't care about his patients or at least not this one. That just has blown my mind, that someone handling something as important as thyroid problems with a nodule. And the young lady that took my call thought it was funny! I hope she doesn't ever have any medical problems. Thanks EMT office in Hixson for NOTHING!!
If you want a doctor that finds tumors on a thyroid and does nothing and a doctor that receives abnormal labs and does nothing then this is the doctor for you!~ !!
Dr liening has a terrible attitude. I am a disabled veteran. He is a veteran himself so I would think that he would accept tri-west insurance for veterans. He was very rude in the way he told me that he “dose not take tri-west insurance and will not” in the future. When I told him then I would have to go to another doctor he was very short and rude then left the exam room in a hurry before exam was over.
Dr. Liening took the time to listen to and respond to my concerns. He recommended a non-invasive treatment that really helped. I was nervous going in because I've had other doctors take a very aggressive (and expensive) approach in the past, but I very much appreciate that he listened to me and worked to find a solution that I would be comfortable with. I would highly recommend this doctor!

Called them for the very first time for an issue a very recently found out that needed to be checked. The lady answering the phone couldn't care less about me, asked for insurance otherwise she wouldn't even listen to me. Incredible rude, she said she answered phones all day. If that's her only job, she is not at all good at it. If that's how they treat new patients, I can't imagine how the doctor will treat me.
Easy access to his Hixson office. Staff is very friendly & he gave me answers I've been needing for years. He is very professional and new patients can get in easily to see him.
I went to him several years ago and he operated on took half of my thyroid out , while doing this he cut a nerve and paralyzed my right vocal chord. He tried 2 more surgeries one where he injected a substance to see if that would help and then he did vocal chord implant. Still no voice and said he could do no more. I went to another throat in Chattanooga who told me to have Dr. Liening refer me to Vanderbilt which I did go back and ask him to refer me. long Story short I have had to have a total of 11 surgeries due to this mans incompetence. Beware about going to him.
This so called dr is a total bafoon
I really enjoyed the care which I received from Dr. Liening! He and his staff were very competent and compassionate. My 86 year old mother also was wonderfully cared for by them.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
