Hospital prescribed wife antibiotics and pain meds for her colitis condition. Meds were working and was getting better. We figured we go to fast pace to get prescription extension since we were on last day of dosage to continue the healing progress. We went early to the new fast pace 2066 n highland ave. Got there signed in. Guy called us back & did routine bios & vitals check. -Wife explained to the male assistant we have been to the ER last the previous week and was diagnosed with colitis, an infection in the colon and paresthesia, tingling numbness in hands and feet with lower back pain and severe abdominal pain where it hurts to walk because of your organs feel like they rub against your rib cage, it’s very brutal. Told him we won’t have gastroenterologist appt until June.(currently March) He left to give my wife’s info to the provider. After waiting he returned stating that provider won’t prescribe us the antibiotics. She, the provider, doesn’t even come into the room to examine wife, meet her, or tell her in person face to face why, blatant disrespect! Felt like us the patient was cutting into her time. Wife told him so basically she’s not gonna prescribe meds knowing what the condition & ailment & situation?? After stating this to make assistant along with threatening malpractice suit if wife dies from this condition the provider came to our room and said she didn’t know our appointment to the gastroenterologist isn’t until June. Really?! The disrespect damage was done at this point. Who doesn’t even make an effort to see or talk to the person in anguish & pain but not asking for pain killer type meds! She assumed we being in a black community all African Americans come there to get pain meds which we don’t even need or requested. This location being in a predominantly black community TRULY needs an African American provider/physician/NP caring for them because I believe the provider RT has very racial tendencies. Pretty sure this wasn’t her 1st time she has done this, blowing our condition off because it seems she didn’t want to be bothered or our situation wasn’t worth her time. Any medical condition could be life or death n you don’t know how serious it is until it’s too late especially not inspecting the situation yourself. Individuals with this attitude are not being fair and are comfortable making assumptions about African Americans in general. Strongly request placing an individual that actually like what they do no matter the patient to get thorough care.
