List of James Payne's Reviews
He is thorough and professional. He took time to review my health history asking appropriate questions as was needed. I would recommend him to others.
He was tolerated as my PCP for 8-9 years. Until, after months of continual visits to his office (with what began as a sinus infection), I ended up in JMCGH with double pneumonia/sepsis/stroke. Then Vanderbilt LifeFlight for ventilator x6 days/ARDS with related pulmonary fibrosis/years of therapies, and a lifetime of decreased lung function/tests/infections. All this because of Dr Payne’s FAILURE TO HEAR/LISTEN to the patient- for months - c/o increasing SOB, cough, fever. He did not pick up his stethoscope or pulse oximeter until last office visit when I stated, “I’m dying”. That visit ended with all the above, (my life was saved by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt) Never heard a word from him, but he knows this is fact.
I wish I did my research more in depth ...5 years later and my scars are still horrible
Nice enough doctor but wanted medication reductions for a disease I've suffered from for years without reviewing my history, labs, or any aspect of my prior care. These medications (not opioids) keep my pain level manageable, but offered no alternatives other than getting a bike. I'm in my late 70's and not overly steady. He didn't listen but rather wanted to make these changes with no other considerations. I would not recommend him for these reasons, but again, a nice enough person in general.
I made a consultation appointment and I made sure to tell the lady that I just wanted to get a dollar amount and then to go from there. She totally understood, I waiting the two weeks for the estimate and then I received a phone call saying that Dr. Payne did not have a dollar amount and wanted to meet for a consultation THREE MORE MONTHS OUT. I was not happy but I took the appointment and waiting my THREE MONTHS. The day of my appointment I get a phone call saying that Dr. Payne needs to reschedule the appointment because he is sick and someone from the office will be calling to reschedule me... again wasn't thrilled. I then get a phone call saying that Dr. Payne was going out on medical leave and they did not have any answer as to when I would be rescheduled. Definitely taking my business else where
Very happy with the procedure I had done. Dr. Payne and his staff (Tacoya, Melissa, Erica, & Francesca) are amazing. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Payne is very down to earth and never rushes his patients. Additionally, Dr. Payne's wife is very kind (she does skin care treatments, so I don't see her often).
Do NOT get any skin work done by Dr. Payne.Dr. Payne admitted to me chemical peels was not his "area of expertise ".Dr. Payne should stick to what he knows: Boob jobs & TT'sUnhappy with his work?? Expect for you to be the problem not him, it's You! I had a chemical peel by Dr. Payne & now my skin is dry with dry bumps on top of my nose between my eyes.I saw another plastic surgeon on Dr. Payne's work and he was appalled. He advised next time have a Dermatologist do my skin work because that is what their specially is: skinI made a costly mistake. Lesson learned.
I had my breast augmentation done by Dr. Payne two years ago. He really made me feel comfortable through the entire process including all of the follow up post operative appointments. I am pleased with how well my breast fit my body. He did a fantastic job
Notice not many patient reviews on Yelp for Dr. PAYNE? There's reasons why and all are not good.
I visited with Dr. Payne and not only is he an amazing character whom allows you to feel 100% honest and comfortable with him but his wife was amazing as well. She followed through with everything that she stated she would. The staff in the office is amazing. Very welcoming , energetic, the morale of this practice is amazing. I am beyond pleased with this office and glad that I have made the choice to go to this practice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
