Marcus Meekins's Online Review Report Card

Awful pain treatment center. I have Ankylosing spondylitis, and I hurt all of the time. The waiting room chairs are uncomfortable, and the wait times to see a nurse practitioner are on average 3 hours. That is the average, I have waited longer. What I dont get is that my appointment time was at 9AM. How do you get 3 hours behind in your work after being open for just 1 hour ? You do not get to see a doctor, you see a nurse practitioner. On your first visit they will not give you any medication. I have worked with my past pain clinic for over 2 years to find the right combination of drugs that work for me. I have 36 months worth of medical records, test and results to back my claim of constant pain. I have been told that they do not wright prescriptions for the drugs that I was taking. No discussion of alternative medication. Just a lot of hype about how great back injections are. If you truly are a pain treatment center, then why limit what medications you are willing to prescribe ? I was made to feel like a drug fiend for even asking. I just moved to Memphis and have been going to my last pain treatment center for 2 years so I know the rules and regulations. The Cordova Pain treatment center is in the business of selling back injections. Unfortunately for me the do not last for long and prolonged use of them leads to scar tissue build up. They simply dont work for me. After I informed the nurse that I am more interested in physical therapy than injections she started arguing with me over it. Very rude. She could not explain how ;ower back injections are going to help with the rest of my back, neck, feet, hips and even my hands hurting constantly. When you entire skeletal system hurts, what good is lower back injections going to do me ? As for physical therapy, specifically Aqua Aerobics, she told me to check with my local YMCA. Then because I did not bring the EMPTY bottle of pain pills I received last visit she refused to write a refill. I get the need to make sure I am not selling my meds or overusing them, but please explain why you need to see the EMPTY bottle ? I ran out the day before, see could check and see that she wrote the prescription on the 18th, I filled it on the 19th and there I was in the office on the 20th. So after a 3:30 wait I went home empty handed and feeling very aggravated, hostile even. I will be back Monday morning and we will see what happens then.

I think there is something wrong with the last review. I have been seeing Dr.Meekins for two years and also followed him to Memphis. I never had any trouble getting my medical records from him and he did a deposition for my accident case as well. I think it's obvious that some people only go to doctors to get pills and try to get on disability. Most people that I talked with said that they got good pain relief with him and the office stayed pretty busy.

I had been seeing Dr. Meekins for approx. 2 years when he suggested I file for my disability. I contacted an attorney which he recomended. Dr. Meekins never complied with Social Security nor my Attorney. There are others that he will not provide records for patients and proceedures. My Attorney believes that Dr. Meekins did not keep records of any of his patients visits. He has changed the name of his office several times since I started seeing him and moved his location from Jackson, Tn. to Cordova and now I see back to Jackson. Think we are just gonna let the Medical Board and Medicare have a little fun with him now. He is not professional and just a little too cockey. If anyone reads this and cares about future records of their treatments and billing...STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR. I was lucky enough to get my disability..other patients..not so lucky...they are still waiting on the GOOD DOC to comply with Social Security and their Attorneys. I hope this will help others.

I had a reasonably good experience with Dr.Meekins. He offers the newest pain treatments available instead of just pushing pain pills. Explained the cause of my pain and gave me time to ask questions. Can't ask for much more.

I really do love dr meekins to death. He has really helped me.

Explained my diagnosis, offered several treatment options and explained the pros and cons of each. I elected to have PRP and am 80% pain free! I am pleased with my experience.

Dr Meekins will not submit procedure to insurance. says must pay cash. He will not return my calls and will not give me the name of the medication he injected me with. I had an allergic reaction which sent me to the ER. They sent me to my primary doctor the next day which wasn't sure how to treat me without knowing what was injected in me. My doctor still has not received any reports or records from Dr. Meekins. When I call the office they advise me they can't help me only dr. meekins can. Very disturbed about this doctor. He wants to perform a PRP injection but I am reluctant to get it done.

I have been with Dr. Meekins for over a year now and I am very happy with the results. Yes, I still have pain, but we are trying various procedures to fix that. He has always took the time needed to speak with me and help me with anything needed! All of the employees in the office have also been wonderful and I have always been treated with respect.

I was getting epidural shots and he recommended a very strong pain reliever to my family physician and I had to quit seeing her but said that he could still write my pain med. The next appt with him I got the shot and told him about the medicine. He said he would have to talk with her. She has written him to letters to him to ask him to help me. Ive tried I know 30 times over a 2 month period and the receptionist is such a snot and evidently he has no nurse and he will not call me back. and all she says is "all i can do is give him the messages and then its up to him." i asked to speak with a nurse but she said no i would have to talk to him. She wont even make me an appt to talk to him. Horrible horrible dr. and dr etiquette. I asked her for him to just send me a letter as to why he wont talk to me but she said no she couldnt do that. And I dont know who to complain to

Had an appointment to see Dr Meekins, but never saw him. Only saw one aid and one nurse. Aid had me undress and ran some silly nerve test that I found out later needed to be licensed. Nurse tried to sell me on an elective surgery that insurance wouldn't cover. Called numerous times later to try to reach the doctor. Never heard back.
