Natalie the receptionist works here is top notch. She treats every patient so kindly and she’s extra sweet to the elderly. Love this place!!!
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. We waited an hour and a half for the doctor to just come in and look in my husbands ears and say he didn’t have any built up wax in them and then recommended a hearing test. They are just after money wanting people to go get tests done they don’t need. My husband is in a wheel chair and sat uncomfortably for that long for nothing. I could see ear wax in my husbands ears when we left so I don’t see how the doctor couldn’t. And on top of everything the doctor didn’t wear a mask and kept clearing his throat and sniffling and stuff like he had a cold very unprofessional all around!!!!
Dr. Howell is a very nice Christian man & a wonderful surgeon. However, the wait time to see him is unacceptable. I had an appointment at 1:30 this past Monday & sat in the waiting room for an hour. I did go up to check & was told I would get a room soon. I sat in the room exactly 60 minutes before Dr. Howell came in. Fortunately, my thyroid scan & bloodwork were good & I don’t go back for six months & I saw Dr. Howell for maybe ten minutes. I asked that my Synthroid be the brand name & that my Astelin be the brand name & he agreed to it but I got generic for both. I lost my husband recently & my brother & sister-in-law drove me so three of us were inconvenienced. Patients should be able to charge for THEIR time. I don’t mind waiting for 30 minutes but two hours is WAY too long!
Dr Howell explains and listens... He is awesome with children and adults... He is one of the most qualifed and caring Dr's that I know. I trust him with my children and grandchild.... Thank you, Dr. Howell.
I can't say enough about this doctor and his staff. I was in crisis and they took me in, first visit, same day. Dr. Howell is intelligent, cautious, knowledgeable, experienced, informative and kind. He is also an excellent surgeon and is developing a very good reputation for removing substernal goiters, of which I had quite a large and difficult one. His staff is amazing. Office is clean. Wait time is minimal. My surgery left me in very little discomfort and my scar is nearly invisible now. This doctor has your back - and he will call you from home at night or while on vacation. In my opinion, he is the standard to which other physicians should strive to be. Nice Job, Dr. Howell.
Dr. Howell has treated my son for two different episodes. He placed tubes in my son's ears when my son was about four years old. Years later, when my son was 16, Dr. Howell basically rebuilt my son's eardrum which was damaged from multiple ear infections. Dr. Howell is extremely knowledgeable and skilled. I credit him with saving my son's hearing. I recommend him without reservation to all patients, young and old.
Dr Howell has taken care of me and my family for the past 32 years. He is consistently, kind, courteous, empathetic and very highly skilled. We are very fortunate to have a specialist of Dr. Howell's caliber in Johnson City.
HORRIBLE DR. !!!!! VERY RUDE AND DOESN'T LIKE TO RELEASE MEDICAL INFORMATION, ALSO USE BAD WORDS TO OTHER PATIENTS AND PROVIDERS. WORSE DR. I EVER SEE, VERY ARROGANT. *******AVOID THIS DR.******
Being a LONG time patient, I find it refreshing to see the same staff ( 1 girl) & the same Dr at each visit.. I absolutely love the new office also! Dr Howell definitely does not blow smoke up your behind or sugarcoat ANYTHING! Sour if you want an extremely intelligent, thorough and straight up Dr, this is the office. His worker even working w/o help is more efficient than offices with 6 workers. If you are reading bad reviews I GUARANTEE those are from fly by night patients who went there for "something" that they didn't get. Read the wording, that should say it all! Some people are Dr shopping, addicted or trying to get everything possible for free, and that's NOT what that office is about. I speak from personal experiences of conversations I've heard in the waiting room. Bottom line, need a good honest Dr with hard working help? Call them!
After hospital confinement , "friend" was told to see PCP in 10 days to 2 weeks. Had an appointment, so went in for that ov. We have been telling Dr. Howell for 2 years there is a problem with the memory, but he did not seem to think any tests were necessary. After getting 'confused' about time of day, took bedtime Rx; twice in one night, the next day we nearly lost him, EMT's showed up just in time. Back To "Howell", he proceeded to throw my "friend" out, tell him to never come back, " was not going to have trouble in his practice because someone stupid overdosed!" This man is a cardiac patient for 20+ years, & truly did not intentionally take an overdose. He has medications that need to be followed up by his PCP on a regular basis. No matter how unreasonable Dr. Howell was with his orders / instructions, my friend followed them to the letter. I have been the only friend available to drive him to his 8;am appointments for nearly 4 years, so I am vary familiar with the relationship between the Dr. & his patient. Even the pharmacist told my friend to ''get a good Dr. that you can trust!!" There should be a "Negligence" law suit in the works, but my friend is not that vindictive. Dr. Howell owes him a lot for not doing the law suit!! Thank you for your time!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
