Marc Mayhew's Online Review Report Card

During a heart attack, this is THE doc that you want working on you. Yes, he’s blunt, but at least he’s telling you what you need to hear! He doesn’t try to do unnecessary things and He isn’t trying to line his own pockets.

Would not recommend! So rude and condescending! Treated us like we where a waste of space.

Would have given him a 5 star nine years ago, but you know how sometimes doctors get complacent once they've been practicing for that long and their practice has just gotten too big. Well, 9 years ago after my husband's heart valve/ bypass surgery, we researched and found Dr. Mayhew. He seemed very concerned, caring and on top of my husband's care. Over the last few years, we began seeing a change. Now instead of seeing him every 6-12 months, he sent us to his new project, his heart clinic, where you see only a nurse practioner. Their focus seemed to be to encourage medications. My husband did not care for the practioner that was following him, and it began to feel to him like to him that they were herding cattle in and out of this practice. We had to cancel an appt at the heart clinic due to a family emergency, and after a couple of months not hearing from them for a reschedule and my husband having some issues, we called to see about getting him seen by the doctor. They told us he had missed 4 appts. How do you miss appts, 2 of which were supposedly between when he was last seen and when he cancelled that one appt. No one called, got no email, nothing. Sounds like either they mixed up patients or someone was trying to cover their tracks. We got in an appt with Dr. Mayhew, who seemed rushed, didn't want to discuss the foul up with his staff and these supposed missed appts, told my husband he had so many patients that he could only see him once every 18 months. Said he needed to go start Cardiac rehab 3x a week, when anyone who knows my 66 year old husband, knows he could out work anyone around him. At this point my husband was very frustrated when we left, feeling as though this doctor he chose 9 years ago, no longer truly cared about him as his patient. I began to research,and found another Cardiologist that saw him within a week, spent over an hour with us explaining in detail what he thought was going on and set up testing to verify his thoughts. Said he did not want my husband doing Cardiac rehab, as per the last echo a year and a half ago showing his EF being so low, that it needed to be rechecked before he should start and cardio anything, and he also needed a stress test he had not had since before his surgery over 9 years ago & bloodwork. The new doctor said then we will get a game plan in place. I even had to call the new doc two days later as my husband's blood pressure dropped low, and he called me himself within 5 minutes of me leaving my message. Glad we found this new doc who seems interested in my husband's best interest, and maybe Dr. Mayhew needs to reevaluate this program he has created, as well as the number of patients he is trying to follow. Start back at the basics to give your patients the attention they need.

Dr. Mayhew has been caring for my cardiac care for over 10 years. It began with him giving my life back after a stent procedure to correct a blockage in the LAD. As I understand it, he was one of the first in the region to go through the wrist for stent placement. Really don't understand the negative comments. I have NEVER experienced a time when Dr. Mayhew wasn't attentive to understand my issues and do his best to coach and guide toward a health life. He's correct, his is a commodity due to the extreme shortages in specialize cardiac care. Meeting Dr. Mayhew you will find a very disciplined person himself and presents a very healthy appearance. If you're looking for someone at the highest level of competency in cardiac care, Dr. Mayhew fits that need. We are blessed to have this level of talent in our region and thankful he continues to grow and learn how to take care of us. Thankful!

Extremely rude, no patient consideration at all. Will not allow you to explain what is happening with yourself. Constly cuts you off in your conversations. And acts as though you are waste of his time. Before even examining you or talking to you. I would not recommend him for my dog. I have never been treated or talked too by a doctor with such rudness in my life.

Dr Mayhew was very professional, knowledgeable and directly to the point during a recent cardio procedure. We thank him for his expertise in successfully addressing my family members issue.

Rude, arrogant, not even slightly interested in medical history/ reason for visit. Makes it very clear you are wasting his time, and so far beneath his skill.

I thought Dr. Mayhew was very attentive to our questions and concerns. He explained everything to us and took the time to answer any additional questions we had, I highly recommend him. He was very knowledgeable, straightforward, and kind.

I have v=never experienced a Doctor like this doctor.. Very rude and not professional at all. He may end up and save my life one day he is on call, but if I had a say in the matter, I will never be in his presence again. When you bring up his name, in front of nurses and other staff members, and people at the hospital and tell them of your experience, they all have smart remarks to make about him. I can not understand how a doctor works in an environment where no one speaks highly of him at all, Of all the other doctors out their for your heart in Kingsport area, choose anyone but this guy. He needs a good ole' Bible Belt whooping. Hope he never has to experience someone talking to him at bedside like he done us.

He is rude. Literally the worst doctor I’ve ever been to. The way he talks and treats patients is awful.
