He scammed the health system with my intake apt. Said we had a full one when we did not because his office messed up and didnt have my medical file. Open case with the college right now. Dont trust this guy.
Doesn’t give you time to speak, also been waiting 2 weeks for him to fill out and send off a form I paid $175 for. My job is dependant on my license, cant get my license back until the form is sent off. He’s a month behind on paperwork, if you cant keep up with the needs of your patients, dont accept so many or dont be a doctor to begin with. Truly disappointed. Was referred to him after a first time seizure, initial consult was a phone call and very brief, didn’t ask for health history or symptoms. Had to call the hospital to have them resend my MRI and EEG referrals, since they either never sent them or delayed by months. After waiting months for my follow ups, he tells me I have scarring in my brain that could be from birth, and refers me to a doc in London, knowing i dont have a license or way to get there. My concussion is still lingering from January, it’s now mid-June. Didn’t even give me time to speak to tell him that im still having concussion symptoms, and the scarring is where I hit my head in the accident. Overall, very disappointed, and will not be returning if not absolutely necessary.
His office made a clerical error at the time of my apt. (I can prove my dr office sent everything needed) and then on the phone took my med list and birthdate and said that this counts as an apt. He never looked at my file and knows the last neurologist ghosted my drs office so I've been waiting over a year now and they pushed me back another 6 months. I get mistakes happen and 2-3 weeks to reschedule I'd be OK with but 6 months for your office making an error is disgusting. Update****, through a different appointment with my chart sent over somehow dr winger now has added first appointment notes, hard to do when I wasn't part of this appointment and they wont actually move my appointment before the new year. Said they would call back last week and the receptionist was rude and asked me if I was done yet. I'm a person in pain looking for help and this office has been awful.
I went to see him after a seizure. He listened to me and was very helpful and cared about my progress. I would highly recommend Dr. Winger.
Just had my first phone consult with him. Very thorough and listened to me. Had been worried after reading all these negative reviews but so far all is good.
I just had my first phone consult with Dr. Winger. WOW! Impressed. He took his time, answered my questions, gave info on what to do. He put me at ease. Plus his receptionist is a sweetheart every time I've spoken with her.
You are right about the receptionist she is a terrible person and about CAT scans I've been waiting since Feb /21. I haven't even back for a 2nd appointment , I had to find out the results from my family doctor.
Receptionist is beyond appalling. Dr. Winger referred me for a CAT scan. I waited a month and never heard one word from the scanning department, so I called Dr. Winger's office back and asked the receptionist if they could find out what the delay was, if perhaps the paperwork had been lost in the shuffle. The receptionist blathered on and on for nearly 10 minutes about something I hadn't even asked her, and then got angry that I would dare to ask their office to follow-up regarding the CAT. Her response was, "Well, they'll call you when they call you, but we sent them the paperwork." Then Dr. Winger got annoyed with me when I went back for my follow-up a couple weeks later and the CAT scan hadn't been done yet. I tried to tell him that I called his office to report that I hadn't received it yet, and that his receptionist refused to help me, but he blamed me somehow. Doctors and front-line staff really have to learn how to LISTEN to patients. We're not all alarmists or idiots, and sometimes we have something valid to say.
After speaking with this neurologist, I felt completely discouraged and depressed. He is extremely arrogant and loves to hear himself speak. I have migraines due to a neck and shoulder injury, and he didn’t even care. He didn’t want to know about my issues... Instead, he starts naming off all of these foods that I can’t be eating... No white bread, no pizza, no soya sauce, no cheese, no chocolate (told me I can have chocolate once a year on my birthday, then laughed...), no breakfast cereal, nothing from a drive-thru, no coffee, no Pepsi, no wine, no beer, only one tea a day. Advised that I can eat plain oatmeal, whole grains, fruits/vegetables, beans, rice, pasta, fish and poultry. No pork, no beef, no deli meats, no smoked meats, etc. I am a healthy person, and don’t eat anything in excess. I make the majority of my food from scratch. However, I do like to treat myself here and there. Told me to ice multiple times a day (which I know and have been doing since my injury in 2003). Told me to talk to my dentist to see in I’m grinding my teeth... I never had migraines, let alone even headaches, before I injured my neck and shoulders. But, all he wanted to do was give me his spiel of other factors that could be causing them, which is not the problem. So, after all of this, I asked him “what about my neck and shoulder injury though? That’s when all of this started.” He tells me he can’t speak to that, as it isn’t his specialty... He didn’t care about me at all and treated me like I was a joke. Please do not waste your time on this guy.
Dr. Winger was the only neurologist who began the process of helping me by finally diagnosing me with epilepsy. He advocated for me and did everything he could to manage my very atypical form of epilepsy. Ultimately I was not able to become seizure free under his care but I still hold him in high regard. I relocated provinces and had genetic testing done and a new neurologist and rheumatologist treat me. We found out that I had a rare autoinflammatory disease called Familial Mediterranean Fever with atypical presentation. I was having inflammation with my CNS and Brain lining which caused 3 day clusters of seizures during each flare. Dr. Winger never could have guessed this back when I saw him many years ago. What Winger was willing to do was try many different options to help me, he was willing to think outside the box and he also advocated for me when it came to my employment. He took the time to care and refer me to other specialists as well. He was definitely one of the better neurologists I've had through the years!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
