Otakar Krcal's Online Review Report Card

First visit he told me a place like Mayo Clinic couldn’t do anything he can’t do. His first report to my GP said I was faking. After running a lot of test he concluded I was not faking and should go to Mayo. So much money and time wasted. Go to Johnson City find another group of neurologists.

He is an excellent doctor. He diagnosed my sister with Hashimoto's disease after the first visit and we had taken her to numerous doctors, and they had all ignored her problems. He spent 1-1/2 hours with us and went over all of her medical history and took the time to write it down. I had a question about her medications, and he personally called me himself. I can't say enough good things about this doctor and his staff. They are the best around, period!!!

I've seen Dr Krcal for years and until recently when sh*t literally hit the fan he decided that he didn't want to give me my medicine for my seizures so I would recommend no one see this doctor he's a quack

Dr. Otakar Krcal listens well and will talk to you and answer your questions. He refers for tests, recommend epidural injections and even did EMG nerve test himself. Only weakness was lack of prompt callbacks from office staff which could be problematic when you try a prescription (like one I did) that gives you shock reaction. But he is one of the best neurologists in the Tri cities.

He is a very poor listener. A family member went with me and told me that he was literally “checking me out” the entire time. He spoke to me in demeaning and condescending terms. I have seen many neurologists over the years. Some are fantastic. Some have God complexes. I feel he falls into the latter category. He is completely dependent upon drugs, not open to conversation about lifestyle changes that could help manage RRMS. I made it VERY clear to him that I COULD NOT take a medication that acted as a vasoconstrictor for migraines. He prescribed something and I asked again how it worked. His response to me was, “It doesn’t really matter how it works, now does it? It only matters that it will make you feel better.” I should have gotten up, demanded my money back, and left at that moment. It absolutely matters! I’ve had surgery to open up my incredibly closed veins coming from my brain. I took the script he wrote, got to the pharmacy, & he had prescribed a vasoconstrictor for me!

My autistic son see Dr. Krcal , he has always been very patient with Aaron. It’s been a pleasure to take my son for his yearly appointment.

Dr. Krcal is a highly competent and caring physician that I would recommend to anyone. We are fortunate to have him in east Tennessee. As an added benefit he is not associated with Ballad Health!

Dr. Kcal is a GREAT doctor. I was recently diagnosed with MS and he has helped me navigate this complicated disease with compassion, understanding and HOPE. He has a great sense of humor but tells you what you need to know. I highly suggest him as a neurologist.
